Jakarta – The systematic poverty alleviation efforts implemented under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership are beginning to show tangible results.

Official data released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is proof that the government’s major strategy has succeeded in significantly reducing poverty rates.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, welcomed this achievement. He described it as the result of measured policies implemented by the Ministry of Social Affairs under the direct direction of the President.

“Today, we are beginning to see the fruits of President Prabowo’s grand strategy. Concrete steps to address poverty are now visible, demonstrated by data from the Statistics Indonesia (BPS),” said Gus Ipul.

He explained that database improvements through Presidential Instruction No. 4 of 2025 were the main foundation. Social assistance was also diverted to the poorest groups, namely deciles 1–2, through direct verification in the field.

“There’s no reduction in social assistance. Instead, it’s being diverted from those who aren’t entitled to it to those who truly need it,” he stressed.

Gus Ipul added that the government had distributed aid to 18.3 million beneficiary families (KPM) at a value of Rp 400,000 per beneficiary during June–July 2025, including rice assistance for vulnerable families. He emphasized that this was the beginning of a major effort toward self-reliance.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar highlighted the importance of post-aid transformation.

“We will focus on empowering and prospering the 210,000 people who have escaped the shackles of poverty,” he said.

He ensured that cross-ministerial coordination would be strengthened through Presidential Instruction 8/2025.

“We continue to strengthen and develop poverty alleviation models to achieve the target of 0 percent extreme poverty by 2026,” he said.

Previously, BPS Deputy Ateng Hartono reported a decline in poverty rates in Indonesia.

“The number of poor people in March 2025 will be 23.85 million, down 0.2 million compared to September 2024. Percentage-wise, that’s equivalent to 8.47 percent of the total population,” he explained.
