Jakarta – The government continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of education throughout the country. One concrete step taken is the provision of 15,000 laptops to support teaching and learning activities in elementary schools across various regions.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf confirmed that the procurement of more than 15,000 laptops for elementary school students will be carried out transparently and accountably. This step is to prevent practices that could lead to regulatory violations.

“I have asked those responsible for procurement to conduct procurement transparently, openly, without collusion, and to no longer engage in practices that violate regulations,” Saifullah said.

The Minister of Social Affairs stated that all Elementary School students will receive a laptop to support the teaching and learning process. In the first phase, 9,705 students will receive laptops.

The second phase will include 5,665 students, bringing the total to over 15,370 beneficiaries. Laptop specifications will be tailored to each student’s educational level.

“In addition to laptops, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed school uniforms as part of the supporting facilities,” explained Saifullah.

Saifullah emphasized that the entire laptop and uniform procurement process was conducted transparently and openly. This is in accordance with the President’s directive to ensure there are no corruption, collusion, or other regulatory violations.

“Because this is in accordance with the president’s directive, there is no corruption. Ensure that all processes are in accordance with procedures and regulations. We also request assistance from the authorities,” said Saifullah.

According to Saifullah, providing laptops is not simply a means of providing facilities, but a strategic step to strengthen the quality of learning in Elementary Schools. This facility is part of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ commitment to ensuring that Elementary School students receive a suitable learning environment and facilities comparable to those of top schools.

The government emphasized that it will continue to monitor the implementation of this program, including ensuring that the devices are used as intended. Collaboration with local governments and schools is key to ensuring this assistance provides maximum benefits to education.

People’s Schools are currently operating at 67 locations and are targeted to reach 100 locations by mid-August 2025. By September 2025, the number will increase to 159 locations spread from Sabang to Merauke.

The People’s School is a program initiated by President Prabowo and implemented by several ministries and institutions. The Ministry of Social Affairs is responsible for operations, and the construction of buildings and infrastructure is carried out by the Ministry of Public Works. Meanwhile, the curriculum and teacher selection are developed by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, with religious teachers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
