JAKARTA – The planned mass rally of thousands of workers on August 28, 2025, in front of the Parliament Complex and the Presidential Palace has raised concerns among many parties due to its potential to trigger widespread unrest.

Therefore, to safeguard national unity and cohesion, it is crucial for all elements of society to prioritize national stability.

One concrete step toward this goal is to avoid demonstrations that clearly carry the risk of disrupting public order.

Responding to the planned August 28 protest, DPR Speaker Puan Maharani emphasized that Parliament is ready to listen to workers’ aspirations through official channels without resorting to actions that could spark chaos.

“Our friends who wish to convey their aspirations, God willing, will be received by colleagues here at Parliament,” said Puan.

She explained that Parliament has established the Public Aspiration Body (BAM) to accommodate public concerns.

“Here we have the Public Aspiration Body to take in complaints, grievances, and hear directly what the aspirations are and why these concerns arise,” she explained.

She added that Parliament is also prepared to discuss other issues raised by the public.

“Questions that have not yet been heard openly will be addressed together,” she added.

President Prabowo Subianto stressed that unity and harmony are the foundation of building a strong and prosperous nation.

He reminded all citizens not to be provoked by divisive issues.

According to the President, only through solidarity can Indonesia achieve equitable progress.

He also underlined that the nation’s future challenges require collective effort, making cooperation between the government, security forces, community leaders, and citizens key to maintaining national peace.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, serving as Presidential Spokesperson, also urged the public to refrain from protests that could spread unrest to other regions.

He highlighted the importance of preserving public order to ensure the smooth running of economic activity and daily life.

According to him, regional stability guarantees that national development can proceed without disruption, allowing its benefits to be directly felt by the people.

With the spirit of togetherness, the government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining national stability.

Avoiding provocative actions on August 28 is a crucial step to strengthening national unity and ensuring public order for a safe, advanced, and prosperous Indonesia. (*)
