Jakarta — The Head of Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, emphasized the importance of solidarity and synergy between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Polri in maintaining national security stability, especially following a series of demonstrations that recently heated up.
According to him, the cooperation between these two defense and security institutions is not merely symbolic or rhetorical but is realized through large-scale joint patrols conducted at several vulnerable points as a rapid step to restore the situation and provide a sense of security to the public.
“This is a real manifestation of the state’s presence. TNI and Polri stand together and are among the people to provide safety and comfort. Under the orders of the President, we are fully concentrated on restoring security,” said Brig. Gen. Trunoyudo during a press conference at the TNI Public Information Center, TNI Headquarters.
On the same occasion, Trunoyudo stressed that the solidarity of TNI-Polri plays an important role in preventing certain parties from exploiting the momentum of mass actions to provoke unrest.
He noted that recent hoaxes circulating on social media, including accusations against security forces as provocateurs of demonstrations, need to be responded to wisely to avoid misunderstandings.
“This solidarity acts as a shield so there is no room for provocateurs to create chaos. We urge the public to be more discerning in filtering information and not easily provoked by unverified news,” he explained.
Brig. Gen. Trunoyudo also appreciated the role of mainstream media, which he considers important in providing credible information to the public. He believes journalists have a moral responsibility to prioritize clarification and confirmation, so the public does not get swept up in narratives that divide TNI-Polri or harm the nation’s interests.
Besides preventive and preemptive measures, Polri ensures that a persuasive approach is always prioritized before taking repressive action. Nevertheless, law enforcement remains the last option if any party is proven to have provoked disturbances that threaten security.
“The law enforcement process is conducted through transparent, accountable, and measured case examinations,” he asserted.
The solidarity between TNI and Polri, according to both parties, is the key to defusing potential conflicts and ensuring that security stability is maintained. Both institutions call on all elements of society not to be influenced by provocateurs and to work together to maintain a conducive environment.
“Polri belongs to the people, and we are open to constructive criticism. However, aspirations should be conveyed through the proper legal channels. Let’s preserve unity so that provocateurs have no opportunity to create chaos,” concluded Brig. Gen. Trunoyudo.
