Pushing for Economic Stimulus, the Government Boosts National Growth

Jakarta – The government has officially launched 17 economic stimulus packages to strengthen national growth amidst challenging global dynamics. This decision was announced during a Limited Cabinet Meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

President Prabowo stated that this stimulus is a strategic step to maintain people’s purchasing power and expand employment opportunities. “We must act quickly. This stimulus package is designed to directly address community needs, strengthen the business sector, and open up broader job opportunities,” said President Prabowo.

The stimulus package is divided into three categories: the 2025 Acceleration Program, the 2026 Continuation Program, and the Labor Absorption Program. The eight acceleration programs implemented this year include an internship program for fresh graduates targeting 20,000 participants, an expansion of the government-funded PPh 21 incentive for the tourism sector, the distribution of 10 kilograms of rice per family, a reduction in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan contributions for non-wage workers such as online motorcycle taxi drivers and couriers, and a cash-for-labor program that will employ more than 600,000 workers.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that the government is designing a comprehensive stimulus package so that its benefits can be felt directly by the public and businesses.

“The government has prepared 17 stimulus packages, including acceleration programs, follow-up programs, and employment programs. These policies are expected to maintain the momentum of economic growth while expanding job opportunities,” said Airlangga.

In addition, five employment programs were launched. These include the operation of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative, projected to create over one million jobs; the development of the Merah Putih Fishermen’s Village; the revitalization of coastal fishponds along the North Coast (Pantura) coast; the modernization of 1,000 fishing boats; and a community plantation program targeting the creation of 1.6 million jobs over the next two years.

Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa also confirmed that the state budget (APBN) is capable of financing the entire stimulus package without increasing the deficit burden.

“We have prepared sufficient fiscal space. The budget will be distributed effectively so that the benefits of this stimulus can be felt directly by the public,” he said.

The government is optimistic that these 17 stimulus packages will strengthen national economic growth, maintain investment momentum, and improve public welfare.

“We hope that businesses, workers, and the public can work together to capitalize on the opportunities presented by this program. With the right policies, we can maintain solid economic growth,” concluded President Prabowo.
