TNI-Polri Synergy Guarantees Safe PSU, Allowing the Public to Exercise Their Voting Rights with Calm

Jakarta — The synergy between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in various regions ensured that the revote (PSU) proceeded safely, orderly, and conducively. In several regions, such as Papua and East Kalimantan, the integrated security system—from joint patrols, polling station (TPS) guards, to dialogue visits—provided citizens with peace of mind as they exercised their right to vote and affirmed democratic maturity.

In the far east of Indonesia, the re-election in Boven Digoel Regency proceeded peacefully and marked a “new milestone” for the local community. Lieutenant Colonel Andry Christian, Commander of the 1711/Boven Digoel Military District Command (Kodim), expressed his appreciation to the election organizers, supervisors, local government officials, police, and the entire community for their concrete support.

“The smooth and safe implementation of the Boven Digoel PSU was achieved thanks to the support of all elements, so that the PSU stages were successfully implemented until the election of the elected Regent and Deputy Regent by the KPUD,” he said.

According to him, the smooth running of the PSU was not only a technical success, but also evidence of the political maturity of the citizens—including the support of the candidate pairs, both those who were elected and those who were not—who maintained a safe atmosphere and full respect for the democratic process.

A similar experience was confirmed in Mahakam Ulu, East Kalimantan. Regent-elect Angela Idang Belawan commended the General Elections Commission (KPU), Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and the community for maintaining a conducive environment from preparation to election day. She described the revote as “safe, orderly, and smooth,” reflecting the community’s maturity in democracy. Moving forward, the regency government is preparing an agenda to accelerate public services, provide equitable infrastructure down to the villages, and implement transparent and modern governance—continuing the positive political momentum following the revote.

This series of achievements confirms three things. First, the collaboration between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in the field effectively prevented security disturbances, from conventional crimes to potential provocations during the voting process. Second, a dialogic approach—visiting patrols, public order and security education, and a rapid response to complaints—built public trust. Third, the political maturity of citizens was strengthened: aspirations were channeled peacefully, voting results were respected, and unity became the foundation after the competition.
