People’s Business Credit Expanded, Government Encourages MSMEs for Economic Equity
Jakarta – The government continues to reaffirm its commitment to making micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) the main pillar of national economic growth. By the end of October 2025, the disbursement of People’s Business Credit (KUR) reached IDR 217.2 trillion, or around 77 percent of the annual target. This achievement reflects the high demand for financing from productive and labor-intensive sectors across various regions.
Data from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs shows that more than 30 million MSME actors have gained access to financing through KUR. The majority of funds have been channeled to the agriculture, trade, and processing industry sectors, which employ a large workforce. The government ensures that financing allocation will continue to expand until the end of the year to strengthen working capital flows at the grassroots level.
In addition to boosting productivity, KUR disbursement is directed as an instrument for economic equity, especially to stimulate business activity in areas that have not fully recovered post-pandemic. From November to December 2025, the government targets an additional disbursement of around IDR 40 trillion through mass KUR agreements for 800,000 debtors, with an average loan of IDR 50 million. These funds are expected to circulate directly among the community and accelerate economic circulation in the real sector.
Beyond expanding financing access, the government is also preparing follow-up measures by strengthening human resource capacity. Upskilling and reskilling programs are focused on preparing a workforce that is more adaptive to the needs of modern industries, including digital agriculture and green manufacturing. Next year, the national internship program aims to reach up to one million participants as part of a strategy to prepare a productive workforce.
These financing policies and workforce capacity enhancements form two main pillars in advancing the target of Indonesia Emas 2045. The government believes that the success of national economic development depends on the synergy between inclusive working capital, adaptive workforce skills, and equitable digital transformation across all regions.
Corporate involvement in supporting MSMEs is also increasingly evident. Ingrid Kansil, Chairwoman of the Indonesian Muslim Businesswomen Association (Ipemi), emphasized that collaboration between corporations and MSMEs is key to strengthening a globally competitive national economy. “MSMEs are the backbone of the national economy, playing a major role in maintaining Indonesia’s economic resilience and equity,” Ingrid said.
She added that MSME success is driven not only by product quality but also by support from various parties, including financial institutions and large corporations. Through this synergy, MSMEs are expected to grow further and contribute to sustainable economic growth.
This strategic approach is also supported by guarantee institutions such as PT Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Jamkrindo), which has strengthened its role in supporting MSME growth. With a guarantee value reaching IDR 186.76 trillion as of September 2025, Jamkrindo has become an important partner in expanding MSME access to business capital.
Overall, MSME empowerment represents a concrete step by the government to promote national economic equity. With cross-sector support, corporate partnerships, and increasingly inclusive access to capital, MSMEs are believed to continue serving as the main driving force in creating a resilient, fair, and sustainable economy.
