Jelwat fish is icon of Sampit. Sampit is capital city of Kotawaringin timur, Kalimantan Tengah. Sampit has many tourism place, culture and art. One of them is Jelawat as icon of Sampit.

New record for Indonesia was eating Jelawat fish in Sampit, last Saturday (21/2). One of the purposes is for support people of Sampit to keepJelawat Fish and also Sampit can be destination tourism place.

This was not first time Sampit making record in Leprid (Indonesian achievement agency for world (Leprid). And, latest is the sixth Sampit making record in Leprid. After, Sampit making record for category Manasai dance, drinking water from young coconut, Giring-Giring dance, eating Pentol Bakso, and eating pineapple.

For the sixth, Kotawaringin Timur makes new record, and the last is record for eating Jelawat with the most participants, 4.505 participants. This agenda is followed by student from elementary school, junior high school and senior high school in all Sampit. A thousand citizen of Sampit came to this agenda in labor area of Sampit.

According to regency of Sampit, Supian Hadi, making new record was government regency efforts to introduce sampit in tourism sector. “With splitting up record in Leprid as eating Jelawat fish with the most participant, sure, it can introduce Sampit as tourism place destination in Kalteng, said Supian Hadi, like quote in Borneo News, Monday (23/2).

Next session, was giving Leprid charter to Supian Hadi by pulus pangka, head of leprid. According to Paulus Pangka, record of eating fish is to offers citizen of Sampit delight eat fish. “This was a program of government regency in national food endurance,”
