Indonesia is agrarian country. Indonesia should able to autonomous fulfill in the food sector. Now, support from region to self-supporting in food is always being going.
Recently, the regional government of Kotawaringin Timur regency officially launched local rice “Siam Empang”. The launching is at the moment of Sumpah Pemuda day (youth Swore). On the first launching on brand Ikan Jelawat (Jelawat Fish), it is done by symbolically giving rice on 5 kg packaged from the leader of Pemuda Tani (Farmer Youth organization) Teluk Sampit district to vice regent of Kotawaringin Timur regency, M taufiq Mukri, regional secretary Putu Sudarsana and Chief of DP3KP Kotawaringin Timur, I Made Dikantara.
Vice regent of Kotawaringin Timur, M Taufiq Mukri said that siam empang rice is a commitment of government in helping local farmer. On the first launching, the rice directly is sold to state apparatus in Kotawaringin Timur regency.
“This is commitment of us (government of Kotawaringin Timur) to help local farmer. On this launching the trading the rice, I invite all state apparatus and people to buy and consume rice from local farmer,” said him Friday (28/10/2018).
Before it, the regency of kotawaringin Timur is minus of rice stock around 38.000 ton. But, this year, the government can fulfill the rice stock and then autonomous.
The launching of beras siam empang which buy directly from farmer hope will make stabilize the price in market. The price of siam empang in market is around IDR 13.000 – 16.000 per kilo gram.
