Farmer Trains and Employment Expansion: Evidence of Pro-People Government Policies
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto’s administration has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to creating jobs and strengthening the village economy through breakthroughs that directly address the needs of the common people, including the introduction of special trains for farmers and traders, as well as strengthening public confidence in the availability of jobs.
This special train program is designed to expedite the distribution of agricultural products from rural areas to cities at a significantly lower cost. While inspecting the service at Manggarai Station on November 4, 2025, President Prabowo explained that this new facility offers significant relief to farmers and traders.
“Yes, I checked. So he only paid for himself. He didn’t have to pay for his merchandise. His seat was on the side. The fare has probably already been set,” said President Prabowo after the inauguration of Tanah Abang Baru Station some time ago.
The train, which also serves routes such as Rangkasbitung, Serang, and Merak, is expected to reduce logistics costs while maintaining the freshness of commodities upon arrival at the market. This measure is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the national supply chain and support economic equality down to the village level.
Public optimism regarding employment opportunities is also starting to increase. According to a Bank Indonesia survey, the Job Availability Index (IKLK) rose to 102.6 in October 2025.
The BI report stated that respondents’ perceptions of job availability have increased across all education and age groups.
This increase is in line with the increase in the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) which reached 121.2, indicating increasing public confidence in economic conditions.
Meanwhile, the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program is also considered to have a significant impact on the local economy. Rifky Hermiansyah, Secretary of Commission V of the Banten Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), emphasized that the involvement of farmers, MSMEs, and fishermen in providing food supplies can stimulate the local economy.
“This MBG not only benefits students, but also boosts the economy of the surrounding community,” he said.
He also conveyed the enthusiasm of the students who directly expressed their gratitude for the policy.
“Yesterday, many students expressed their gratitude to President Prabowo for the existence of this MBG,” said Rifky.***
