President Prabowo Visits Disaster Victims in Sumatra: “Everyone Is Mobilizing — We Face This With Resilience and Solidarity”
North Sumatra — President Prabowo Subianto directly visited areas affected by floods and landslides that struck several regions in North Sumatra and surrounding areas. During his visit, the President emphasized that the government is moving swiftly, deploying all national resources to assist affected residents, reopen blocked access routes, and ensure smooth distribution of logistics.
“We can see that the natural conditions are very challenging and causing many difficulties, with many routes still cut off. But we are immediately carrying out all necessary efforts to overcome these hardships,” Prabowo said in Sibolga.
The President also expressed his appreciation to all parties who have responded quickly in handling the disaster.
“I thank all parties, especially all agencies, for their rapid response in providing assistance. The TNI, Polri, Ministry of Public Works, BNPB, and regional governments are working well. We face this disaster with resilience and solidarity. Our nation is strong and capable of overcoming it,” he emphasized.
Prabowo noted that fuel transport vessels are now able to dock in Sibolga, while Hercules aircraft continue to be deployed daily to reach affected locations.
These emergency response measures have received praise from various parties. Deputy Chair of Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Alex Indra Lukman, said that President Prabowo’s swift actions demonstrate a strong sense of care for people affected by the disaster.
“As of now, President Prabowo has already sent aid using four aircraft. This is a clear signal of concern that must be properly acknowledged by local leaders in the affected regions,” he said.
Alex hoped that local governments would accelerate disaster impact data collection and prepare recovery plans so that central government assistance can be distributed more effectively.
“President Prabowo has given a strong signal — he is not allowing the regions to face this disaster alone. The indicator is clear: sending aid immediately with four aircraft plus two helicopters,” he added.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Menko PMK), Pratikno, emphasized that the President’s directives serve as the basis for large-scale mobilization across ministries, agencies, the TNI, Polri, and regional governments.
“The President’s instruction is that all national resources be mobilized for the current emergency response phase to ease the burden on the people,” he said.
Pratikno also confirmed that ministries and agencies have been on-site since the first day of the disaster, focusing on reopening land access, restoring electricity, and distributing logistics by air and sea. The government has also begun preparing for rehabilitation and reconstruction, including the construction of temporary housing for displaced residents.
With strong coordination and rapid cross-sector efforts, the government demonstrates that disaster management is not only about emergency response but also about the spirit of solidarity and the nation’s strength in facing challenges together. *
