The Government Encourages the Private Sector to Intensify the Subsidized Housing Program
Jakarta — The government is encouraging the active participation of the private sector in collaboration to provide affordable, equitable, and high-quality housing. This step is expected to accelerate equitable housing development across various regions.
The Director of Urban Housing Financing at the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Buhari Sirait, stated that collaboration between the government and the private sector is crucial in addressing the housing backlog.
“Housing construction can only be achieved if the private sector grows strong, healthy, and productive,” Buhari said.
The 3 Million Homes Program is one of the government’s strategic agendas to meet the need for decent housing, especially for low-income communities (MBR).
Meanwhile, the General Chairman of the Indonesian Property Developers Association (Deprindo), Jarot Warjito, said that his party urged its members to increase their commitment to the national housing ecosystem, particularly in contributing to the 3 Million Homes Program.
“This is a great responsibility to carry out the struggle to help our brothers and sisters throughout the country who do not yet have adequate housing so that the government’s target of 3 million houses can be achieved,” said Jarot.
Jarot also stated that the new management will move quickly through a 100-day work program. The focus will be on centralizing member data and mapping project capabilities based on small, medium, and large-scale categories. This program is part of the organization’s broader agenda, Sapta Cita Deprindo.
“With the Sapta Cita program, we hope that not only will the Deprindo organization grow internally, but also that collaboration and synergy with the government, banks, and other associations will help resolve current problems,” he said.
In line with this, BP Tapera Commissioner, Heru Pudyo Nugroho, said that his party is encouraging Depindo to take a bigger role in providing subsidized housing for the community.
“Developers have a strategic role in bridging the government’s fiscal instruments so that benefits reach the community,” Heru said.
The government aims for this collaboration to provide a wider choice of quality, affordable subsidized housing, easy access to financing, and needs-driven development. This effort demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving public welfare by fulfilling the basic right to adequate housing.
The 3 million homes program is a concrete government effort to fulfill home ownership needs and improve public welfare. Private sector involvement is a crucial factor in meeting housing needs and realizing this subsidized housing program.
