Holiday Bonus Prepared for Hundreds of Thousands of Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers
Jakarta – The government has confirmed that online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers will receive a Holiday Bonus (BHR) during Eid al-Fitr 2026. This policy serves as a form of state affirmation for the contribution of hundreds of thousands of driver-partners to supporting the national digital economy.
Amidst global dynamics, this measure is seen as a progressive breakthrough that strengthens partnership-based social protection. The government emphasized that this scheme was developed through intensive communication with app providers to ensure the distribution mechanism is accountable and on-target.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the BHR policy for online motorcycle taxis has undergone in-depth discussions with online transportation app companies.
“The amount of BHR provided in 2026 covers approximately 850,000 recipient partners or drivers, with a total value of IDR 220 billion,” said Airlangga.
He emphasized that this amount has increased compared to the previous year as a form of support for the welfare of partners.
“Gojek and Grab will distribute BHR (Bantuan Rakyat Rakyat) to 400,000 driver-partners each,” he said.
The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, also expressed support for this policy, noting a significant increase in the bonus value compared to last year. This year’s BHR has doubled, significantly impacting partners’ purchasing power ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
“This value has doubled compared to last year, where partners could pocket bonuses of up to hundreds of thousands of rupiah, disbursed starting 14 days before Eid,” he explained.
According to him, the disbursement, which begins two weeks before the holiday, gives drivers time to plan their family needs more carefully.
“It is hoped that this policy can serve as a foundation for strengthening the social safety net in the digital economy sector,” he said.
Meanwhile, GoTo President Director/CEO Hans Patuwo stated that the company’s total budget allocation has more than doubled compared to the previous year.
“In 2026, the company allocated IDR 110 billion, a significant increase from IDR 50 billion in 2025,” said Hans.
He explained that for the lowest nominal category, the BHR amount will increase three to fourfold. Motorcycle partners will receive BHR ranging from IDR 150,000 to IDR 900,000 depending on performance criteria.
“BHR is a form of appreciation from GoTo for supporting driver partners in celebrating Eid with their families, unlike the THR for formal workers,” Hans added.
The BHR policy for hundreds of thousands of online motorcycle taxi drivers marks the strengthening of collaboration between the government and industry players in building a more inclusive employment ecosystem.
This momentum demonstrates that the government is not ignoring the dynamics of the growing number of platform-based workers.
With an increased budget and a broad recipient base, this policy is expected to boost domestic consumption while improving the welfare of driver partners’ families.
