Support for National Strategic Programs (PSN) Strengthens, Film “Pig Feast” Disrupts Papua’s Energy Security Development

Jakarta – Support for President Prabowo Subianto’s National Strategic Program (PSN) continues to grow in South Papua. This call emerged amidst the controversy surrounding the documentary “Pig Feast,” which some believe presents a negative narrative and has the potential to disrupt the development of national energy security in Papua.

South Papua Governor Apolo Safanpo made the call while continuing his Ramadan Safari in Mappi Regency. He emphasized that various ongoing development programs are strategic state policies that require public support.

“Let’s all support President Prabowo Subianto’s policies, which are state policies,” said Apolo.

According to him, the central government has currently set two priority national development agendas: food security and energy security. South Papua is one of the regions strategically mandated to support these two programs through various ongoing development projects.

“President Prabowo Subianto has launched two national programs: food security and energy security. South Papua has received these two National Strategic Programs, and they are currently underway,” he said.

Apolo believes community involvement is crucial for these programs to benefit the region and strengthen South Papua’s contribution to achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 target of national food and energy self-sufficiency.

This call emerged amidst the controversy surrounding the screening of the documentary “Pig Feast,” which drew criticism from several groups. The film was seen as negatively portraying development in Papua, particularly regarding energy development and the utilization of natural resources. Some believe the film’s narrative has the potential to cause unrest among the public and undermine the government’s ongoing development goals.

Meanwhile, influencer and socio-political communications expert Putra Aji Sujati believes strengthening energy based on domestic resources is a strategic step in the face of global geopolitical uncertainty.

“This time I want to discuss palm oil, yes, palm oil, but in the context of the Iran, America, and Israel war. When the Strait of Hormuz was closed due to this conflict, Mr. Prabowo Subianto already had a trump card to save our economy through palm oil,” said Putra.

He explained that approximately 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Disruption to this route, he said, could trigger a spike in global energy prices.

“That’s why the B50 program in 2026 is actually crucial,” he said.

Putra believes that national energy development, including in Papua, needs to be understood as part of a strategy to strengthen Indonesia’s energy security amidst global dynamics.
