Jakarta — The government continues to finalize various preparations to ensure the smooth flow of the 2026 Eid homecoming travel. Several ministries and agencies are working together to prepare road infrastructure, transportation facilities, and health services to provide comfort and safety for people traveling back to their hometowns.

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) plays an important role in ensuring the readiness of national road infrastructure that will be used by travelers. Various strategic steps have been prepared to keep road conditions in optimal shape during the Eid homecoming and return travel periods.

“The main strategy we are implementing is to ensure that all national roads are in good condition, free of potholes, and that all supporting road facilities are well maintained so they are safe and comfortable for travelers,” said Director General of Highways at the Ministry of Public Works, Roy Rizali Anwar.

Roy Rizali Anwar stated that the readiness of the national road network is also a key concern for the government ahead of the Eid homecoming season.

According to Roy, the non-toll national road network spanning 47,603.39 kilometers is currently in good condition, with a stability level reaching 93.5 percent. Meanwhile, toll roads ready to serve the homecoming flow extend to 3,115.98 kilometers across various regions of Indonesia.

To anticipate potential disruptions along the homecoming routes, such as natural disasters or infrastructure damage, the Ministry of Public Works has prepared Disaster Relief Units (DRU) consisting of heavy equipment, materials, and support personnel stationed across different regions.

A total of 1,461 units of equipment have been prepared and distributed throughout Indonesia during the homecoming standby period to accelerate response efforts in case of disruptions on national roads. In addition, various emergency response materials such as bailey bridges, gabions, sandbags, cold mix asphalt, and other rapid repair materials have also been prepared.

Roy added that the Ministry of Public Works has also prepared 496 homecoming posts across Indonesia to monitor road conditions and provide technical support in the field. These posts function as coordination centers for monitoring traffic conditions and responding quickly if disruptions occur along homecoming routes.

On the other hand, the government is also ensuring that the health of travelers is maintained during their journey. The Ministry of Health has prepared thousands of health posts at various strategic locations such as homecoming routes, terminals, stations, and places of worship.

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that these health posts are intended to provide rapid medical services for people who need assistance during the Eid homecoming period.

“We have prepared nearly 7,000 health posts across various locations, including in mosques, to provide health services for travelers,” said Budi.

These health posts will be equipped with medical personnel and various basic facilities needed to handle emergency conditions as well as minor health complaints during the journey.

The government hopes that these preparations will provide a sense of safety and comfort for people traveling home. With strong infrastructure support, transportation policies that assist the public, and ready health services, this year’s Eid homecoming travel is expected to run more smoothly.
