CIDISS. The implementation of the 2018 Asian Games which will be held in Jakarta-Palembang has already begun. The four-year event is expected to provide great benefits to the Indonesian people. One of the benefits felt by the community is the direct economic impact of various sectors.

Based on the Bappenas count, it is estimated that the total direct economic impact of organizing the 2018 Asian Games will be in terms of visitor expenditure, supporting infrastructure investment, and the operationalization of the event in the amount of Rp. 45.1 trillion from 2015 to 2018.

Based on the statement of the 2018 Asian Games Organizing Committee Chair (INASGOC) Erick Thohir, it was revealed that the 2018 Asian Games would provide legacy and have a big positive impact on Indonesia. One of them is the impact on the economic side, social impact and knowledge of developed countries in Asia and even the World.

The 2018 Asian Games are not only an arena for competing competition but also as an arena to create peace in Asia and especially Indonesia. Based on the preliminary calculation of Bappenas, the economic impact of visitors’ spending during their stay in Indonesia for the 2018 Asian Games was IDR 3.6 trillion with a composition of 88% of expenditures from spectators and tourists, followed by 4.67% of expenditures by athletes, 3.96% of media crew expenditures , 2.34% official expenses, and 0.77% volunteer expenditure.

So far there are a number of assumptions that the implementation of the Asian Games is burdensome to a number of parties, for example such as the existence of odd – even regulations and the transfer of traffic. For some residents, this is certainly burdensome and difficult. However, if we look further, a number of regulations are applied to make it easier for us later. If the implementation of the Asian Games is successful, in addition to the name of Indonesia, of course this will provide a number of other positive effects.
