Aside from being a mental support to the community, President Jokowi’s presence is expected to accelerate the post-disaster rehabilitation process.
For some people in the world, disasters are part of the natural consequences that we live in. There is a special area to be an earthquake, flood or so on. However, there are natural disasters caused by human activity itself. Based on the data, the world has experienced an aging phase as part of the times. Moreover, the large number of natural resources damaged by human greed is considered a factor in the occurrence of disasters everywhere. In fact, a number of literatures say, areas that are safe from natural disasters become disaster-prone areas.
No doubt, in the case of natural disasters often need a lot of help. Ranging from material to spiritual. Many parties state that, this psychological impulse is able to make victims rise again and move from the traumatic events that befall them. Moreover, in disaster there will usually be casualties, whether family, relatives, friends or others. This will certainly make the victim feel even worse.
Through the visit of President Jokowi with the First Lady, Iriana to Ambon City, Maluku. Government gives attention mentally and spiritually. According to the schedule of the President’s work agenda, he immediately headed towards Darusalam University in Tulehu Village, which is the center of evacuation for earthquake victims in the region. Not only that, his party also held a limited meeting with traditional leaders, village heads and community leaders from the three affected areas.
Among others came from Ambon City, Central Maluku Regency and also West Seram Regency. During the visit it was reported, the President and his entourage would visit the emergency hospital Dr. Ishak Umarela, Tulehu village.
Like a tit for tat, proof of his love for the community, Jokowi and his entourage were greeted with enthusiasm by the refugees. RI 1 person, took the time to go around and look at tents with trauma healing facilities. Not forgetting, he also had a dialogue with the earthquake survivors at the evacuation post.
Although it is not easy, restoration of areas affected by disasters also requires special attention. Referring to the view of psychology, the mental condition of survivors is still focusing on the stage of adjustment to unpleasant situations, accompanied by memories of experiences related to disasters that are often considered as trauma conditions. Thus, the provision of trauma healing is very necessary.
According to reports, they have been in refugee camps since the magnitude 6.5 earthquake that rocked Maluku on September 26, 2019. While discussing, Jokowi promised to immediately build facilities damaged by the earthquake. One of the survivors also revealed various obstacles while in this refugee camp. Among them are, the availability of clean water, tents that are starting to tear, and the need for public kitchens.
Regarding the complaint, Jokowi responded quickly. He stated that these needs need not be a concern. In fact, there will be compensation for people whose dwellings have been damaged by this disaster, in accordance with a predetermined amount. This is the same as other regions that also receive the same consequences when a disaster strikes.
One of the Darussalam Darussalam University lecturers also requested that the mosque facilities in the campus complex be immediately repaired. Because, he claimed that his condition was badly damaged by the disaster. Responding to this, President Jokowi immediately instructed Basuki Hadimuljono, as Minister of PUPR, who was present at the time accompanied along with several other officials. Including, Budi Karya Sumadi as Minister of Transportation and also Doni Monardo, Head of BNPB
With regard to the President’s visit, it is hoped that the refugees will be encouraged. Because the leader of his country is also indifferent to the disaster that befell this. In fact, pay special attention and go directly to the affected location. To see and directly observe the real conditions and how to find a solution.
Maybe for some people, the visit is just a state work agenda. However, for the President himself and the refugee victims will be able to build emotional emotional building in order to provide encouragement in facing life related to the disasters that are being struck. In addition, this is evidence of the seriousness and presence of the government in disaster response. The public certainly pray that the people affected by the disaster can recover soon and move as usual.
