The government emphasizes the importance of implementing a green economy for nature conservation. This commitment is realized by increasing the participation of industry players to be more aware of the importance of a low-carbon and socially inclusive economy.
The government continues to accelerate green economic transformation in Indonesia. Because with the optimal and maximum implementation of a green economy, it is not impossible that the continuity and sustainability of humanity, including future generations, will at least be more guaranteed.
Moreover, in facing the climate crisis and the conditions of uncertainty that currently continue to surround and haunt the world, of course the Indonesian Government continues to take strategic steps to realize a green economy in Indonesia.
Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Siti Nurbaya, expressed the importance of an economy with low carbon emissions. According to him, the existence of a green economy is very important because it is able to continue to pay attention to various aspects of economic development with low emissions and pollution.
Not only that, but the green economy also pays great attention to energy efficiency, natural resource efficiency (SDA), especially water, and environmental services. Moreover, implementing a green economy is an effort that aims to further improve human welfare and environmental equality.
Furthermore, it is also able to significantly reduce the possibility of environmental risk impacts. So far, the Indonesian Government through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry itself has succeeded in making a number of achievements in terms of implementing a green economy.
Some of the achievements that the government has successfully implemented include controlling forest fires and bringing back endangered animals. Apart from that, the government through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry has also succeeded in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
In fact, the success of the Indonesian Government in its efforts to continue to suppress and reduce greenhouse gas emissions has been able to exceed the planning target. All of course aims to achieve the Net Zero Emission target by 2060 or even faster.
So far, at least in the last 10 years under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the government has succeeded in controlling forest and land fires, reducing deforestation, protecting peat and mangroves, as well as ensuring that animal species continue to emerge and even prevent extinction.
For information, for the success of efforts to reduce carbon emissions, since 2020, the government has been able to reach 41 to 43 percent. This is an extraordinary achievement because it far exceeds Indonesia’s GHG target with a national capacity of 31.89 percent.
Another effort made by the government is through the Head of State directly encouraging the coconut community to be able to work together to realize a green economy in Indonesia. Even with the existence of a sustainable coconut industry, it is not impossible to have a positive impact on the world.
There are 2 important things in order to continue to improve the coconut industry in Indonesia, namely by increasing coconut production and also implementing downstreaming to increase added value.
Indeed, in the effort to realize a green economy in Indonesia, implementing downstreaming is very important because it is able to create much greater job opportunities, as well as encouraging research and the use of technology which is no less important.
In the future, of course the existence of a green economy is something that opens up very wide opportunities and brings potential to the country even from various sectors, be it the processing of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, pepper, cloves and also coconut.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (Wapres RI) KH. Ma’ruf Amin continues to encourage the development of the country’s green economy, there is also a contribution from the sharia economy there.
In the future, the Indonesian Government will continue to push for an increasingly stronger contribution of the sharia economy towards maximally reducing carbon emissions by making the green economy its main pillar in the Sharia Economic Master Plan for 2025 to 2029.
It turns out that the role of sharia economics itself has a significant portion to fully support inclusive and sustainable economic transformation. Moreover, in the government’s efforts to develop a green economy to support the low-carbon energy transition as stated in one of the focuses in the National Long Term Development Plan (RPJPN).
In this way, sharia economics can actually contribute to the financing scheme for low-carbon economic programs ( green financing ). So that this financing scheme can be the right thing for the Indonesian Government’s sustainable energy transition program.
Because of the government’s very strong commitment to running a green economy in Indonesia, various parties also provide their full support so that the country’s sustainable development can continue.
A green economy is a very important step or program because it guarantees sustainability for the future of humanity. Because if this is not the case, the earth will be damaged because the economic system does not pay attention to environmental impacts.
