CIDISS. The proof of the seriousness of the Indonesian government for self-improvement in the face of global competition is the realization of development, one of which is the infrastructure for the inter-district / provincial and national connectivity to be easy and practical, income society. The development of this infrastructure has been significantly successful in some areas.

The government’s policy to establish the Committee for the Acceleration of Infrastructure Provision Priority (KPPIP) in 2014 finally began to be felt by the people of Indonesia. The government is determined to build Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote. For the region, the development has been greatly felt.

Accelerated development by the government, initially due to the gap between the people who live in towns and villages. People living in the city are considered more advanced because of facilitated adequate infrastructure, more accessible education and so forth. In addition, the fact that Indonesia has been independent for 72 years is still a lot of areas that are classified as left behind in some parts of Kalimantan, Maluku, Papua, Sumatra and Sulawesi is still very pathetic. Because of their remoteness they can not move as fast as the urban community, they are left behind in some areas of development, both educational, social and economic. They live in subsistence poverty, untouched by science and technology adequately, and even the motions of life’s movements are very limited. Therefore, to minimize the gap and as an effort of equity, the government is determined to accelerate the development of infrastructure in all regions in Indonesia which later described in the national development program.

Infrastructure development of outer islands currently recorded as many as 117 islands, in accordance with Nawa Cita program President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, one of which is to build from the periphery. Implementation is done through a strategic development area approach (WPS), where the outer islands are part of the WPS.

One of the government’s focus to build outermost islands is the construction of raw water facilities is Obi Islands in North Maluku. The Government through the Ministry of PUPR coordinates with other agencies, such as the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries to build raw water facilities in the Obi Islands, North Maluku. In January 2016, the Baku Obi Water Unit was built with a capacity of 30 cubic meters. Obi Islands is famous for nickel and agate, but its citizens do not have enough clean water for their daily needs.

Therefore, the development project of the raw water unit aims to increase the water discharge that has been built by the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) Halmahera Selatan. The work done includes construction of intake, filter tub, reservoir, water tank and pipe bridge. Reservoir built with a capacity of 350 cubic meters and filter tub with a capacity of 36 cubic meters.

Various forms of infrastructure development today can be regarded as a success of infrastructure development and can also be a capital for further infrastructure development. The Ministry of Public Works and People’s Housing (PUPR) stated that Indonesia’s infrastructure competitiveness index is skyrocketing. Indonesia ranks 60th in the index of infrastructure competitiveness, from 134 countries in the period 2016-2017. Although the position of Indonesia is still in the middle, but it is a significant achievement. Because the period 2010-2011 position of Indonesia in the index of infrastructure competitiveness is in position 90.

Development in every region, not apart from the support provided by the community. Because, if there is no support from the community, then the government program can not run. People need to trust and support what the government does, because everything that the government does is for the sake of Indonesia’s progress.
