The new Bank Indonesia (BI) Regulation that regulates mandatory use of Rupiah in every financial transactions Indonesia officially receives appreciation and support from AirAsia.
“We agree and so far there has not been any problem,” Corporate Communication AirAsia Audrey Progastama Petriny told Tempo on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
Audrey said that, the airline has been consistently uses Rupiah in ticket sales for outbound routes from Indonesia. Audrey added that AirAsia Indonesia has never accepted payments in US Dollars, even for international flights.
“With this regulation, the stability of Rupiah exchange rate could be maintained,” said Audrey.
In addition to mandatory use of Rupiah in financial transactions in Indonesia, the new Bank Indonesia Regulation No.17/3/PBI/2015 and Bank Indonesia Circular Letter No.17/11/DKSP of 2015 also regulates the obligation of using Rupiah in price (quotation) for goods and/or services.
