Anies Gets Position, Ahok Wins Heart

The frenzied elections of DKI 2017 along with a series of demo-demo is over. Anies-Sandi wins, Ahok-Djarot loses. We all can analyze why Anies won, and Ahok lost with his various theories, but it is clearly a fact that must be accepted by all parties.

As a nation that believes in God, we understand that this “test” is also God’s permission. That is, God has a plan, and He has His own count. Beyond any conspiracy theory, divine theory can not be fully understood by humans.

Nevertheless, we as human-minded and civilized people, not just religious, can learn from the mistakes of the past and learn to be better in the future. What can we learn as a nation from the elections of DKI 2017?

Many. But, I just want us to see a reality that is very obvious after the elections. Anies really got the position of the Governor of DKI, but Ahok won the heart of Indonesia (not just Jakarta). Not surprisingly, the first 100-day Anies-Sandi kept trying to eliminate the stigma of religious politicization, and suddenly became the national weaver again.

Here the network of Indonesia Teaching Anies will play an active role to revive the brand image of Anies as the national weavers. Stating this, I apologize to my good friends who are still active there (I myself am not an IM activist). I have no interest in damaging the relationship, but equally we learn to light a candle amidst the darkness, not cursing.

Make no mistake, I will continue to support Anies-Sandi as a trustful governor of DKI, but to support the existing social movement, I do not recommend anymore. Because Anies dangerous game must be balanced. Let this 5 year Anies learn to be a good governor, and hopefully become a spiritual journey again for him so that he can find the essence of being a national weaver.

Currently because Anies has already gotten a position, then she is facing the real test. Will it pass? We can only follow his action. And do not be surprised, Anies-Sandi will try to steal people’s hearts by campaigning positively. So, after winning they still have to campaign for “political debt” in the original campaign period.

On the other hand, Ahok is now without a position, but gets the hearts of the people. This case is like when Anies was fired, he was defended by the people. Not like now, win but shunned the people. Then where should Ahok have to dock? A complicated political count, but actually a simple rationality.

Right man on the right place. This simple HRD concept should continue to be used in selecting public officials. But unfortunately the political factor, and the voraciousity of power has been devastating. “Sing is important to win” (read: the important thing to win) is a comment that looks milling about in the post-election era.

Ahok must be positioned the most appropriate to build a New Indonesia. His track record shows him very well from strategy to implementation, but the most prominent is his courage to fight corruption, and organize the bureaucracy to become professional. Both of these are the strengths Jokowi needs to fulfill the Nawacita.

But as Ahok says, power is from God a mandate or mandate, not necessarily sought but keeps on preparing. When the call to dedication comes, it is God’s time for Ahok to take part again in the bureaucracy. Before it comes, at least until October 2017, Ahok still active acting governor, and I am sure the heart in the next 6 months, people’s heart will be more adrift to Ahok – Djarot.

Qin Sin Huang was the first king of the Chinese empire to be able to “unite” all the small kingdoms into the Qin dynasty. But as a result he became a king whom the people hated for his cruelty. Even anxious, he died on the way to take the hearts of the people and dukes.

Throughout his short position, the Qin king always tried to please the people, but to no avail. The people can not believe it anymore. Once a lifetime of unbeliever lifelong testing is the right proverb to describe.

Getting a position but not loved is the situation facing Anies. While smiling and laughing Legowo Ahok has taught us all that winning hearts is more important than just winning the position.

For me, the elections of DKI 2017 taught me that building a New Indonesia must start from the purity of heart to serve. Because despite having a positive ambition to build a nation, it could be deviated. The point is not about me, or us, but about New Indonesia. A dedication.

My prayers remain the same for Ahok, Djarot, Anies, Sandi, and Indonesia. Let God’s will take place on earth as it is in heaven.
