Corruption Potential in Electoral Election 2018
CIDISS – 2018 electoral election, began to seize the attention of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). This is due to the huge opportunity for corruption in every democratic party. Therefore, many parties are snared as a suspect because of corruption crimes committed during the election.
The 2018 electoral election will be held in 171 regions consisting of 17 Provinces, 39 cities and 115 districts. For the registration of candidates for regional head will start on January 1, 2018 later.
Due to the large number of regions that will hold elections to the region in 2018, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) have agreed to establish cooperation to oversee the elections to 2018 simultaneous regions. This step is an effort to prevent corruption in order to make the pilkada clean transparent. This is due to the need for Bawaslu to assist the KPK to monitor, prevent and crack down on criminal violations of the election. Such assistance is to oversee transactional political activities, money politics against voters and campaign funds.
Bawaslu and KPK have discussed more effective mechanisms of money and transactional prevention politics. For example, in relation to the high cost of campaigns and the potency of political parties that are potentially corrupt in the future.
Although in this cooperation the KPK will only be involved in corruption prevention activities because under the law, the KPK’s authority is restricted to the act of prosecuting only the state organizers and those related to the state losses. However, this cooperation is expected to reduce transactional corruption in the implementation of 2018 election later. (MA)
