DKI Jakarta Governor Wrong Strategy to Overcome Flooding

Flood disaster again haunts Jakarta. Floods that afflict many people are Anies Baswedan’s negligence because they failed to anticipate the seasonal threat
Floods hit Jakarta again on Tuesday (02/25/2020) and caused various problems. Floods that are considered the most fatal in history have made some affected residents become furious. Anies who was considered slow in handling this problem was also said to add resentment to residents. Plus a number of scandals that followed increasingly made the public disappointed.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Citizens in the name of the DKI Jakarta Flood Victims Advocacy Team were prepared to sue Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. They even claimed that they would immediately file the lawsuit because Anies was considered to have harmed the community and the mall entrepreneurs due to flooding in the Jakarta area and its surroundings.
Diarson Lubis, Sh, along with two other advocacy teams, Alvon K. Palma, SH, and Ridwan Darmawan, SH, have their own reasons why they need to file the lawsuit against Anies Baswedan.
According to him, Anies is considered to have committed acts against the law, in which the parameters are the existing laws and regulations.
He explained, acts against the law are acts that are contrary or not carried out in accordance with existing and applicable regulations. Regarding the regulations being violated, his party is still inventorying with complaints from the public, because each class has a different effect.
The Advocacy Team also mentioned that there are several legal remedies that can be taken including the submission of a civil suit, which includes claims for compensation for flood victims through the Class Action mechanism.
However, this compensation has not been revealed concrete because the losses of each class are different, this can only be concluded after the final data. While finalizing the data will be conducted early next week.
Responding to this, Chairman of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Prasetyo Edi Marsudi invited if they wanted to file the lawsuit to the DKI Provincial Government. Because, that is their right as citizens.
If indeed the flood in the capital at that time was a result of government mistakes, then it is obligatory to compensate the mall entrepreneurs and also the community.
The PDIP party politician also asked the mall entrepreneurs and the people who carried out the class-action lawsuit to complete the files first. Then, they can file a lawsuit to court.
After the report, Prasetyo let the police conduct an investigation related to the causes of flooding in DKI Jakarta. He said that indeed so far the DKI Provincial Government seems unprepared and negligent in anticipating flooding in the Capital City. So that today many areas are flooded and even killed many victims. He added, if the lawsuit had reached the DPR, then it was followed up by the executives.
DKI floods that occurred in early 2020 and Tuesday, February 25, 2020, did leave a lot of homework for the DKI Provincial Government itself. In fact, according to the report, the State did not play to pour funds up to 1T to carry out the Jakarta flood anticipation program. At that time, it was precisely the Governor who was busy scheduling the construction of the Formula E circuit, which reportedly the funds used were models of government money that was supposed to Anticipate the flood. However, Anies argued that this flood was 100 percent the fault of the central government. So he increasingly sauntered, as if reluctant to interfere. This is unfortunate by many parties.
Anies Baswedan, an educated and trusted citizen, apparently broke the promise he made. He should protect the citizens of the community, instead of sending various reasons to accuse other parties.
Where was Anies who was so good at rhetoric that she made sweet promises to the citizens of Jakarta? After the flood arrived, not the attention or assistance received, but instead a long and immature reason. If you have this, the citizens who will sue are certainly more powerful. They have the right to ask for compensation for what happened. Yes it is a disaster, but the funds that should be used to optimize the prevention of floods lost somewhere, must also be questioned. Do not then have the word “this is God’s will”, it is just a cliché and irresponsible reason.
