Nusa Dua – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, in her speech at the Indonesia Africa Parliamentary Forum 2024, emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Indonesia and African countries in facing increasingly complex global challenges.
Retno also warmly welcomed the members of parliament from African countries and expressed appreciation for their presence at the forum.

He also expressed appreciation for the close friendship between Indonesia and African countries, which has been established since the Asia-Africa Conference in 1955 in Bandung.
“I appreciate the organization of this first Indonesia Africa Parliamentary Forum, which demonstrates the close friendship between Indonesia and African countries, as has been initiated since the Asia-Africa Conference in 1955,” he added.
Retno Marsudi emphasized that cooperation among parliaments can serve as a bridge connecting the aspirations of the people in facing various global challenges, such as geopolitical tensions and the multi-dimensional impacts of climate change.
“In this context, collaboration between parliaments is very important. It allows us to share experiences and best practices in seeking solutions to these challenges, while also serving as a bridge between the aspirations of the people,” explained Retno.
It also highlights the important role of parliament in maintaining peace and stability, as well as in addressing global humanitarian issues. According to him, the experience and responsive policies of parliament can help tackle various complex global challenges.
“The parliament can share experiences and best practices in formulating responsive, fair, and effective policies to support efforts in addressing the complex global challenges we face today,” said Retno.
