The G20 Forum is a good event to show the achievements of young people in Indonesia. Their role is important in making changes, including in pioneering the creation of new jobs in the creative industry.
2021 is a crucial year because Indonesia will hold the G20 forum in Bali. At the 17th G20, the theme raised is still in accordance with the Covid-19 pandemic situation, namely ‘recover together, recover stronger’. This forum is still being held even though the pandemic is still continuing, because it has missions that are important for Indonesia’s relations with other countries.
The G20 is not only an event for hearings with many leaders from other countries but also a momentum for the younger generation to show their achievements. Metta Dharmasaputra, CEO and founder of Katadata stated that the G20 will talk about how big the voice of young people is to make more changes for the world.
Metta added that this year’s G20 has the theme ‘recover together, recover stronger’. Indonesia wants to invite the whole world to work hand in hand and support each other, to recover together, be stronger, and sustainable. Therefore, young Indonesians will have a good opportunity.
Why should young people? The reason is because they are future world leaders. When the G20 wants a sustainable recovery, that’s where the opportunity for young people opens, because they still have high energy to do it. So that the recovery from the pandemic period will be completed quickly and the results will also be accurate.
Young people also have a long future, so that a sustainable recovery will be realized, because their age is relatively small compared to adults or seniors. It is in the hands of the youth who can recover from the effects of the pandemic so that it lasts not just a year but for years, so that our economy can rise again.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that in the G20 Indonesia presidency, the role of youth cannot be ruled out. Through Youth20 (Y20), youth and women have a big role in determining the direction of policies and the benefits of their own recovery. Moreover, Indonesia has a large population of productive age, namely 20-40 years.
One of the G20 themes discussed was the economic transition from traditional to circular economy. Young people can learn it and then be inspired, and excited to start or continue entrepreneurship. They increasingly like to do business because they master internet marketing and can market it to all over the world.
Entrepreneurship is very important because of the 225 million Indonesian population, only 3% are businessmen, even though the benchmark for developed countries is the large number of traders there. The more people who are struggling in the field of entrepreneurship, the better, because it can help the government in reducing unemployment. Especially during the pandemic, many victims were laid off, so they could be helped.
If more young people do business, we are optimistic that Indonesia can rise during the pandemic, in accordance with the G20 theme this time. They still have high spirits and also creativity, so they can be entrepreneurs happily and have good results. The wheels of the economy will roll fast and the country’s finances can be saved.
In the G20 event, it is not only about old people who are leaders of other countries, but young people can also take part in it. Even though they were not participants, they could listen to Y20 and be inspired to become entrepreneurs by relying on internet marketing, and help the government in economic recovery.
