Radical movements seemed to be a common threat to all countries in the world, what does not, this movement seemed to be aware that allowing such acts of terror to fight for his thoughts. In a seminar titled, “De-radicalizing Radicalization: Learning from Interfaith Peace building in Indonesia and the United States”, at Portland State University, Oregon, USA is a collaboration between the Consulate General in San Francisco in collaboration with Portland State University (PSU), Expert USA States, Roger Paget from Lewis and Clark College, Portland-Oregon expressed high appreciation of de-radicalization efforts undertaken by Indonesia and is an example for the countries in the world. “Countries in the world it is proper to make Indonesia as a successful example of how dampen the terrorist acts that today is heavily influenced ISIS,” said Roger Paget.

Besides Roger Paget, there are expert in conflict resolution, peace studies and genocide PSU, Amanda Byron and expert in conflict resolution and international relations PSU, Harry Anastasiou. From Indonesia, Pariela Tonny, Speaker from Pattimura University in Ambon and Muhammad Wildan of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

Tonny convey how the public communal conflict in Ambon in 1999 to 2001 was the worst bloody conflict in Maluku, and how the Government and local communities can be completed through the concept of de-radicalization which use local wisdom.

Meanwhile Wildfire reveals the radicalism in Indonesia which have recently heavily influenced ISIS. Wildfire underlines the recruitment pattern youths in Indonesia to sympathize with ISIS, and how civil groups and the Government of Indonesia use various approaches to muffle. He said Indonesia is now entering the era of Post-Islamism or Islam that upholds democracy.

While Consul General in San Francisco Ardi Hermawan said that this seminar is important for sharing the concept of de-radicalization of Indonesia to the intellectuals in the US to curb radical actions lately.

Observing the various thoughts about the success of Indonesia in an effort to de-radicalization indeed a remarkable achievement for Indonesia, this country must be a leader of de-radicalization model in the world. This success is the fruit of the good cooperation of all communities, governments, and various elements who want Indonesia remained calm and peaceful.
