CIDISS.CO The Asian Games XVIII / 2018 event in Jakarta and Palembang August 18 – September 2 will be a historical record for the Indonesian people. Besides being able to introduce the Indonesian people to the outside world, the momentum of the Asian Games can also be a unifying means for Asian countries that are experiencing conflict.
Chairman of the Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC) Erick Thohir said the Asian Games should be the right moment in every way. Starting from building nation building, promoting Indonesia, to a greater extent to show the role of Indonesia in the international eyes.
Erick said, the 2018 Asian Games were a “National Branding” moment to promote Indonesia. Therefore, the 2018 Asian Games not only focus on one region only, but throughout Indonesia. We can also take advantage of important moments before and during the Games Times later, one of which is that Indonesia is the host of the reunification of the Korean nation.
The discussion titled “The Road to the 18th Asian Games, Jakarta Palembang 2018” was held to coincide with National Education Day and presented several speakers. These include Menpora Imam Nahrawi, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin, National Police Chief Tito Karnavian, and Tempo President Director, Thoriq Hadad.
Furthermore, Erick added, the development of the nation’s character has a broad dimension. Including participation of the community such as watching orderly culture, queuing up, not fighting when and after watching, using public transportation, and maintaining cleanliness.
Thoriq said the 2018 Asian Games were seen very much different from the 1962 Asian Games. In addition to the addition of a number of sports, this stage was attended by 15,000 athletes from 45 countries.
Alex Noerdin said there were three things that made Palembang a co-host of the Asian Games. Firstly the conduciveness of the region which was free from SARA riots, both Palembang experienced in holding 42 sporting events, and more importantly Palembang had 21 internationally certified venues with the latest facilities, Light Rail Transit (LRT). The flyover consists of 8 carriages and will cross the route along the 23.4 km from Sutan Mahmud Airport Badaruddin II Palembang to Jakabaring Sport City.
National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian rate, although the year 2018 is better known as the political year, but he believes the 2018 Asian Games will be a kind of cooling system. He said, the community would not always be busy with the issue of watching politics and power. They need to be invited to see a fight for a medal. The National Police have prepared Among Raga operations to secure the 2018 Asian Games.
While in an effort to realize one of the successes, namely successful achievements, successful target stakeholders, the achievements of the Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi said, with the assistance of the Indonesian Deputy Chief of Police as the Chef de Mission (CDM) of Indonesia Contingent, the distribution of athletes’ rights was well implemented so that the target 10 big is expected to be fulfilled.
The Asian Games are not just sports matches but are related to the pride of the Indonesian people. Indonesia hosted the Asian Games in 1962 and this year will repeat the host. If this is successful, then Indonesia will be trusted by the world to hold another world-class sporting event. Through the Asian Games, it is hoped that Indonesia will be increasingly recognized and respected throughout Asia and the world.
