The hard work of various parties in dealing with Covid-19 is often obscured by the circulation of hoaks and politicization of interest groups. The active role of the media and millennial groups is seen as spearheading the alignment of information that is confusing in the community and supporting efforts to deal with Covid-19.
For more than a month this pandemic has approached Indonesia. Various contents about Covid-19 were easily found in various media, including social media. However, there is a tendency for social media to seem to be the top priority for people to just scavenge news. Sometimes, social networking with its own uniqueness presents a variety of inspiration. However, often found a variety of misleading news. Therefore, the role of the media as well as millennials is needed in an effort to support the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia.
The practical, dynamic millennial and modern people are considered capable of playing an active role in this matter. As we know, young souls and their great energy need to be given to the country in the midst of a pandemic that is showing its fangs.
While the media is considered as the center for the circulation of this variety of information, it can make itself the center of the movement to present positive content. Namely still in an effort to support the government in dealing with the Corona virus.
Previously, the President’s Special Staff, Adamas Belva Syah Devara, said that millennials had a large role in breaking the chain of the Corona Virus spread. Because the millennial is the largest contributor to the contagious causes of Corona COVID-19 itself.
This statement is not without reason, Belva sees data in neighboring countries between 250 to 300 of its population being tested, then a figure of around 30 percent is infected and at an age that can be categorized as young. Namely, 20 to 29 years. This data is considered to be 3 times bigger than the generation aged between 30 and 39 years and twice that of the age of 40 years
He considered that young people today are more likely to underestimate this. Even though they feel safe, in fact it still has the potential to transmit. Especially in family members who are more vulnerable to immunity. Like grandparents, parents or others.
Because of this, he asked the youths to stop all activities outside the home if not urgent. Including implementing physical distancing, also reducing the intensity of hanging out to reduce the Corona virus transmission rate. He also regretted that there are still many people doing activities outside the home.
He said if all were required to play an active role. Considering, activities such as insignificant insights have even greater potential because, this virus can be carried by them. As is known, this virus can also survive in the air for several hours, right.
Even more important besides this is the role of millennials in combating disinformation. Because, these young people are considered to have access to information that is wider in scope.
He appealed if there was useful information, could continue it so that others would also know and could take the good side. However, if the news is not clear where or gray enough stop and do not spread before checking the validity first.
He also hopes that when this pandemic is still ongoing, young people must be aware and not attack each other. Because, this moment must be used to help fellow fruit channel humanity. He also cited several positive examples such as fundraising or donations to other positive behaviors. He insisted to continue to maintain mental health. If you get bored at home you can video call friends, play games, or develop other creativity.
It is true, the media as well as millennials have a significant role. These two elements are able to control all matters related to the sustainability of the country. Because, at the moment these two elements are awaiting participation. it is their support that is able to bring brighter hopes in the face of the Croona case which is so great.
Positive campaigns both online and offline can be done. Socialization related to Corona countermeasures can also be echoed. The point is that the active role of these two elements is needed to help the country. The country is not in need of provocateurs, or people with negative thoughts and behavior. The state needs the media as well as aggressive young people with the aim of serving the country. Only through real support and action can all of us deal with everything, including Corona.
