Police officers – TNI took over Kimbely and Longsoran, 344 Hostage Evacuated

CIDISS – Jakarta. Police and TNI officers managed to control the isolated territory of armed criminal groups (KKB) in Kimbely and Longsoran in Tembagapura District, Papua, Friday morning (17/11/2017). Police Public Relations Division Inspector General Setyo Wasisto revealed this and stated 344 hostages were successfully evacuated.

“The first group of evacuated people has arrived at Mapolsek Tembagapura safely,” Setyo said on Friday, November 17, 2017.

Setyo explained about 344 residents who were evacuated from two villages, from the Kimbely region consisting of 104 men, 32 women and 14 children. While from the Longsoran area there are 153 men, 31 women, and 10 children are saved.

The Police spokesman also explained that the evacuation started at 09.30 WIT, Friday, October 17, 2017, a task force led by Dansat Brimob Papua managed to get into some areas that KKB isolated. Then, the process of evacuation of hostages was done at around 11:00 WIT and had occurred a gun contact by KKB.

“There was a shooting by KKB, but the evacuation process led by Director of Sabhara Papua still running gradually,” said Setyo.

Meanwhile, Papua Police Chief Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar said the evacuation will continue with the TNI and the combined apparatus will comb the isolated citizens.

“Please pray from all Indonesian people so that they can return safely in their respective villages,” said the Papua police chief in a video recording. (SA)
