The Free Papua Organization (OPM) as the country’s main enemy must be resisted. Because their movements not only indicate chaos, but their abominations have gone beyond their limits and must be dealt with firmly. Therefore, the people support the firm attitude of the TNI / Polri to crush the Papuan separatist movement.
Talking about OPM seems to be endless. They continue to look for ways to separate themselves from the Republic of Indonesia. Many names of OPM leaders are considered to be skilled at finding loopholes to launch attacks. You name it, Egianus Kogoya. His name, began to be widely heard, after the brutal attack that swallowed project workers in the Yigi District, Nduga Regency, Papua. Terrorism observer Sidney Jones said the Egianus Kogoya group was a budding group of the leader led by Kelly Kwalik, the commander of the Free Papua Movement (OPM) military wing who was killed in 2009. Interestingly, Egianus was known to be more militant and the majority of his members were young.
Besides that there is also the name Goliath Tabuni which is also quite popular because of its abomination. He is considered not reluctant to slaughter victims who are not in line with him. Goliath was captured by the security forces while he was looking for weapons. What he said would be used to attack during the celebration of OPM’s birthday some time ago.
Meanwhile, the Nduga Regent, Yairus Gwijangge, supported a joint team of TNI and Polri to pursue the armed separatist criminal group (KKSB) or the independent Papua organization (OPM) led by Egianus Kogoya, because he had shot dead dozens of trans Papuan road workers from PT Istaka Karya on early December 2018.
He invited the military and police officers to carry out law enforcement. It is hoped that the TNI and Polri will be able to work professionally. TPN / OPM or KKSB are enemies of the nation, please pursue them, as long as my people are not victims, Yairus added.
According to him, the action carried out by KKSB under the auspices of Egianus Kogoya was an act that was not commendable and inhumane. This action has caused chaos. Including the killing of civilians in the area.
As a result of the violence carried out by the KKSB, the Nduga community was traumatized. While the government through the TNI and Polri has an obligation to protect its people from all acts of violence and brutality of the KKSB.
Yairus also conveyed an apology to all parties, including Papua Governor Lukas Enembe and DPRP Chair Yunus Wonda who were so concerned about taking a stand regarding the conflict area, Nduga.
Regarding the statement of the Deputy Regent of Nduga asking to withdraw TNI and Polri troops, this was a misunderstanding. He wanted to straighten out that it was wrong. He asked the TNI and Polri to pursue the perpetrators of violence.
Previously, it was reported on December 1 and 2, 2018, as many as 28 trans-Papuan road workers from PT Istaka Karya became victims of violence from the KKSB savagery led by Egianus Kogoya along with dozens of his men. Of the action, 17 workers were found dead, 4 of whom were still being searched by a joint team of TNI and Polri, while the rest had returned with their families.
In fact, 5 TNI and Polri personnel did not escape the action. One of them died on behalf of Sertu Posthumous Handoko, 4 others were seriously injured and also mild. On the part of Nduga residents, it was also reported that 3 to 4 other people were reported killed.
As long as there is no common ground between OPM and the Indonesian government, so long as the conflict will continue in Papua. Not only alerting the military personnel on the ground, Indonesia must also have full power in the political channel as a reinforcement. It’s nothing, ways like Benny Wenda who got attention from the Oxford City Council, England, it’s time to become a serious concern for the government of the Republic of Indonesia.
It is quite possible over time, the international world will change your mind. Given the slipperyness of these OPMs playing a role. They are able to distort the facts as if they were the ones struggling because they were oppressed. Even though they themselves are the source of the chaos and intricacies that have caused prolonged conflict in the Papua region.
Presumably, for whom will this independence be fought? If the citizens are just oppressed and become victims of violence also murder. What is the essence of an independent Papua? If only the people have decided to become independent and become part of the Republic of Indonesia. Therefore the government should not be careless about the efforts of this sheepfight conducted by OPM. Because they will continue to look for opportunities to pass their interests.
