“This is not a parking space dispute, this is a racist crime. This guy has been at loggerheads with my daughter and her husband several times before, and he spoke with a gun in his belt.
And they are not comfortable with him, but they didn’t know he would do this so far,” said Mohammad Abu Salha, father of two murder victims in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, US, as reported by CNN Indonesia. Abu Salha who also a psychiatrist in Clayton, at local media News & Observer, said, his daughter had expressed her fear toward Hicks.
“Honestly, she (the daughter of Abu Salha) said, He (Hicks) hate us because of us and our appearance, ” he said.
As reported tempo.com, three shooting victims are newlyweds, Deah Barakat, 23 years old, second-year student at UNC (University of North Carolina) School of Dentistry, and his wife, Yusor Mohammad, 21 years, prospective dentist .
Mohammad ‘s sister, Razan Mohammad Abu Salha, was a student at North Carolina State University. They were shot dead by their neighbor, Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, on Tuesday (10/02 ) , local time, at a condominium in Chapel Hill, which is about 2 miles (3 km) from the UNC campus.
Police said that the incident was caused by dispute the parking space problem between Hicks with three of her neighbors.
Later, Police arrested Craig Stephen Hicks who shot they all at head on Tuesday “Our preliminary investigation indicates that the crime was triggered dispute parking motive,” said Chris Blue, chief of Chapel Hill police. While officials of Attorney in North Carolina , Ripley Rand , believes that it is not the cause.
” We don’t have information who says that this is a targeted campaign against Muslims in North Carolina ,” he said.
