The IAPF Forum is Proof of Indonesia’s Commitment to Being at the Forefront of Building a Better World.
Bali – In the IAF II event, one of the side events prepared by the ministries/agencies is the Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum. (IAPF).
This parliamentary forum is being held in Bali until September 2, 2024, in conjunction with the Indonesia-Africa High-Level Forum (FTT) organized by the Government. With the theme ‘Strengthening Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Partnerships for Development’ at the IAPF event, the House of Representatives aims to focus on building partnerships among Parliaments.
The Chairperson of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), Puan Maharani, expressed her confidence that the organization of the Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum (IAPF) will enhance the added value in the relationship between Indonesia and African countries.
“This forum is a tangible proof of Indonesia’s commitment to always be at the forefront of building a better world,” said Puan.
According to you, the IAPF is a strategic step to build partnerships among parliaments that can expand and deepen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Africa.
“The added value will be achieved if the Indonesian parliament and African countries strengthen cooperation,” said the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
Moreover, he continued, Indonesia and Africa have a history where inter-country relations have been established since the Asian-African Conference in 1955 and the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961.
The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives also welcomed the Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum (IAPF) delegation with a dinner reception or gala dinner.
The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia hosted the delegations with a welcoming dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali, on Saturday night (August 31, 2024).
“I hope to be a new chapter or the beginning of a new page in the cooperative relationship between Indonesia and African countries,” said the Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
The Director for Africa at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dewi Justicia Meidiwaty, stated that the side events during the IAF II series of activities serve as a platform to expand networks, engage in constructive discussions, and explore potential collaborations, particularly in the economic sector.
“This forum will also be utilized to exchange experiences and best practices, especially in the management of natural resources, bilateral and regional economic cooperation, as well as strengthening human resource capacity,” he said. []
