Indonesian democratic era is now tinged with concurrent elections held on 9th December. The implementation of such systems is expected to give positive impact on the implementation of the system of democracy in Indonesia. This moment would be a good time for people to choose the head of the region that would have the capability, integrity and quality to promote their respective regions.
Implementation of the democratic party was supported by the state by decide that 9 December was a national holiday through Presidential Decree No. 25 Tahun 2015. The Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior, Yuswandi A Tumenggung said, a national holiday applies to all areas, including those that did not elect. “That’s a Presidential Decree that national holidays, including areas that do not perform as well off election. We are in the city as well right off,” said Yuswandi.
Although the government has set the date of December 9, 2015 as a national holiday, threats of abstentions and violent still overshadows election implementation. Chairman of the Center for Political Studies and Security (PRSP), Padjadjaran University, Muradi explained that the weak socialization Election Commission (KPU) impact on the high potential voters do not give a right to vote or abstention in the elections simultaneously, 2015. Based on the survey results of Security Center for Political Studies (PRSP ) Unpad, potential non-voters were between 15 to 20 percent of the voters list (DPT).
Concurrent election implementation may not be too smooth sailing. Currently single candidate issue that could delay the election still looming in some areas.
