Kalimantan Tengah,CIDISS – Orange is one of the commodity fruit in Indonesia. They sell it from traditional market till modern market. Except, it have delicious taste, and contain various vitamin. It also have low price than other fruit like grape.
Some of province in Indonesia develop orange field to fulfill orange market request. The successful of orange farmer in Sukamara district seem from the orange order in Desa Pulau Nibung. Now, they have a in itself market in Sampit. It up to, they can’t handle the order of orange request.
Head of farmer groups Desa Pulau Nibung, Musbah, like published on Kalteng Pos, Friday (7/2/2015), said that, in one day, farmer should fulfill market request till 300 kg. The distributor usually request orange 1 ton in one day.
“Orange in Desa Pulau Nibung was planted by replaced harvest system, so it can fulfill market request, especially from Sampit. They request more than orange from banjar (South Kalimantan),” said Musbah.
The field area in Desa Pulau Nibung, Jelai district is about 60 Ha. It plant various orange. It have harvest period. It was because to supply orange request.
But, orange farmers have a problem. Like plant disease, Lalat Buah always makes orange not for sell.
Musbah admitted, the plant disease often come when harvest period. It must decrease the number of harvest from orange field.
Up till now, farmer of Desa Nibung effort to cope with attach of plant disease. They make smoke around orange field. So, they can’t touch the fruit. Other, they also plant disease trap, like glue special for insect.
“But, there is no significant effect. They still attack the fruit,” said musba.
Musba want help from government for solve this problem.
