The dynamics of world development is very easily to affect the psychological of Indonesian society. Without a strong self-defense system, the Indonesian nation will become a weak nation. A nation that is rich because of its natural resources are abundant, it will only be a deluded nation. Without a sense of belonging of the homeland, we are just going to destroy our fellows, very easily to be triggered by a conflict, rampant corruption, depravity of younger. The strong current global flows has become a real threat for the people in Indonesia.
Each of Indonesians need to have a self defense against the dynamic development. A state defense program which is promoted by the government can become a pioneer for cultivation of a sense of belonging to the people who are still concerned about their nation. This program will create a cadre of nations that could potentially be militant defenders of the state.
The run of a state defense program at least be able to increase public awareness of our people that today our country is in danger. The danger does not only come in the form of gunfire. Danger has now spread to every related aspect of life of the nation, through drugs, the spread of radical, the separatist movements, an economic mafia, and even political uproar that has been created. All of them are the forms of war which is committed by the state’s enemy without directly contact with the Government. It can be described as a proxy war.
Pros and cons of state defense program appears in the communities. Indeed the form of defending the country for every individual does not have to go through a program to defend the country. A teacher who wants to teach in disadvantaged areas and even with limited facilities could also be a form of defending the country. An excel athlete in the international arena also can be a form of defending the country. However it will be too naive if we do not be aware about the harm which contained in the ongoing proxy war in the modern world today. The program will give birth to a cadre who will defend this country and be aware of the dynamics of the world, and also aware that this nation needs a mental revolusion that will be lead by Pancasila.
