Acceleration of Koperasi Merah Putih Outlet Development Across Regions

Jakarta – The government continues to accelerate the construction of physical outlets for Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan (Kopdes) Merah Putih across various regions as a concrete step to strengthen community-based economic development.

This program has shown significant progress, spanning regions from Kalimantan and Java to Papua, reflecting the state’s strong commitment to building village economic independence. The presence of cooperative outlets serves not only as an institutional symbol but also as a distribution infrastructure that shortens supply chains and enhances community welfare.

Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono stated that around 34,000 Kopdes Merah Putih units have developed physical facilities, including warehouses, retail outlets, and operational equipment. Of this number, approximately 2,500 cooperatives have completed construction in full.

“As of now, around 34,000 physical buildings—warehouses, outlets, and supporting equipment—have been established across Indonesia, with 2,500 already completed at 100 percent,” he said.

He added that these figures are part of approximately 83,000 cooperatives that have been formally established and legally registered, indicating a stronger institutional foundation.

Furthermore, the government sees the post-Idul Fitri period as a strategic momentum to accelerate cooperative operations. Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Farida Farichah emphasized that renewed energy must be translated into concrete actions on the ground.

“Recharge has been done; now it is time to face new challenges. We are confident that Kopdes operations can run optimally so that the President’s vision can truly be felt by rural communities,” she stated.

The Kopdes Merah Putih program goes beyond physical development, focusing on strengthening sustainable economic functions.

Meanwhile, the momentum of cooperative development is also evident in eastern Indonesia. In Mimika Regency, local authorities have expressed strong optimism regarding the economic impact of the program. Head of the Mimika Cooperative and MSME Office Samuel Yogi noted that Kopdes Merah Putih Kampung Atuka is scheduled to be inaugurated on April 9, 2026, by the Minister of Cooperatives.

“On April 9, the Minister will attend and officially inaugurate the cooperative,” he said in Timika.

He emphasized that the presence of this cooperative is expected to become a key driver of economic growth, not only for village communities but also for the broader coastal areas of Mimika.

With the accelerated development of outlets across regions, Kopdes Merah Putih is increasingly affirming its role as a strategic government instrument in strengthening the people’s economy. This program not only expands access to business and distribution but also fosters a more independent, inclusive, and competitive rural economic ecosystem at the national level.
