Acceleration of Koperasi Merah Putih Outlets Expanded Across Regions

Jakarta – The government continues to accelerate the development of physical outlets for Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (Kopdes) Merah Putih across various regions as a concrete step to strengthen community-based economic development.

This program has shown significant progress, spanning across Kalimantan, Java, and Papua, and serves as an indicator of the state’s commitment to building economic self-reliance at the village level.

The presence of cooperative outlets not only represents institutional development but also serves as distribution infrastructure that shortens supply chains and enhances community welfare.

Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, stated that as many as 34,000 Village/Sub-district Cooperatives Merah Putih have established physical outlets in the form of warehouses, stores, and other operational facilities. Of this number, around 2,500 cooperatives have fully completed their construction.

“As of now, a total of 34,000 physical buildings—warehouses, outlets, and operational equipment—have been built across Indonesia, with 2,500 of them already 100 percent completed,” said Ferry.

He added that this figure is part of approximately 83,000 cooperatives that have been formed and legally registered, indicating an increasingly strong institutional foundation.

Furthermore, the government sees the post-Eid al-Fitr momentum as a strategic point to accelerate cooperative operations. Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Farida Farichah, emphasized that renewed energy must be translated into concrete actions in the field.

“Recharge has been done; now it is time to face new challenges. We are confident that the operation of Kopdes can run optimally so that the President’s vision can truly be felt by village communities,” she stated.

The Kopdes Merah Putih program does not stop at physical development but is directed toward strengthening sustainable economic functions.

Meanwhile, cooperative development is also gaining momentum in eastern Indonesia. In Mimika Regency, Central Papua, the local government has expressed strong optimism regarding the economic impact of the program.

Head of the Cooperatives and MSMEs Office of Mimika, Samuel Yogi, stated that the Kopdes Merah Putih in Atuka Village is scheduled to be inaugurated on April 9, 2026, by the Minister of Cooperatives.

“On April 9, it will be inaugurated. The Minister will be present to officially launch the cooperative,” Yogi said in Timika.

He emphasized that the presence of this cooperative is expected to become a driving force for the local economy, not only for village communities but also for the wider coastal areas of Mimika.

With the accelerated development of cooperative outlets across regions, Kopdes Merah Putih further reinforces its role as a strategic instrument in strengthening the people’s economy.

This program not only expands access to business opportunities and distribution channels but also creates a more independent, inclusive, and competitive village economic ecosystem at the national level.
