Jakarta – Commissioner for Monitoring and Investigation at the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), Saurlin P. Siagian, stated that the handling of the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus continues to show significant progress.

Based on coordination with investigators from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Military Police Center (Puspom TNI), the investigation has reached an advanced stage.

“The investigation process has reached 80 percent,” Siagian said.

He explained that investigators are currently completing several key pieces of evidence before proceeding to the next stage. These include the victim’s medical examination report and direct testimony from the victim, both of which are crucial in strengthening the case.

“At present, investigators are awaiting the victim’s medical report from Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) as well as the victim’s statement,” he added.

Komnas HAM emphasized that the completeness of this evidence is essential to ensure that the legal process runs accurately and accountably. The institution therefore continues to encourage transparency in the investigation and supports external oversight to maintain public trust.

As the case develops, law enforcement authorities have also taken firm action by naming four TNI personnel as suspects. Head of the TNI Information Center, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, confirmed that legal proceedings against the suspects are being carried out thoroughly and in accordance with applicable regulations.

“The charges brought against the suspects relate to assault,” he stated.

This step signals that the case is being handled seriously and without discrimination, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to upholding the law.

With these developments, the public is urged to remain calm and place trust in the ongoing legal process.

Meanwhile, public attention to the case has also prompted responses from the legislative branch. Deputy Chair of Commission XIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sugiat Santoso, proposed several possible approaches to handling the case, including the formation of a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF), proceedings through civilian courts, or a hybrid judicial process involving both civilian and military elements.

According to him, such approaches could help ensure a more transparent legal process and deliver a stronger sense of justice for the victim.

Collaboration among state institutions, public oversight, and transparency in information are considered key factors in maintaining public confidence.

With the investigation reaching 80 percent completion, the designation of suspects, and continued oversight from multiple parties, the case is moving in a clear direction. The public is expected to remain calm and support the ongoing legal process so that it may result in a fair and transparent outcome.
