Recently there has been news about a three-term president. This is certainly surprising because it is not in accordance with the law. Even though President Jokowi himself firmly refused to be re-elected. It could be that the three-period issue is just a momentum to provoke and divide the people.
Since being elected in 2014, President Jokowi has excelled and made various infrastructures that benefit the people. Likewise when he was re-elected in 2019. The people were very happy and loved Mr. Jokowi even more. This is the first time that Indonesia has a populist leader, likes to visit and is never branded, but has principles for work and work.
However, there are those who are jealous and don’t like President Jokowi’s actions, for whatever reason. Finally they raised the issue that there will be another presidential election in 2024 and the contestant is Mr. Jokowi again. Even though this is against the rules, because an Indonesian citizen can only be RI-1 for a maximum of 2 periods.
The public is asked to be aware of this provocation, because it is only an issue created by the opposition. President Jokowi himself has made it clear that he does not want to be re-elected, because it would violate the constitution and the 1945 Constitution. Although he holds the reins as a leader, he does not want to abuse his position and amend the Constitution so that he can be re-elected.
The main expert from the Presidential Staff Office, Donny Gahral Adrian, stated that those who allege that there will be an additional three-term presidential term must be careful. Don’t let that statement become a discourse that ends in slander. This issue is just a speculation and for some reason has been rolled back.
If someone deliberately slanders the President like this, they must be given a warning, because he could stumble over the ITE Law. The reason is because the accused party declared a ‘3 term president’ on his Youtube channel. When he is proven to have violated the ITE Law, he can be fined a maximum of 1 billion rupiah or imprisonment for a maximum of 6 years.
Likewise when he reasoned that this discourse was not spoken via electronic media. He could still be charged with defamation and face a maximum sentence of 9 months in prison or a fine of 450,000 rupiah.
If he is really caught because he is entangled in the ITE Law or the article on defamation, then don’t play the victim and say that this violates democracy. People need to know the difference between criticism and slander and not to be influenced. The actions of such individuals have led to heinous slander and character assassination, and it is natural to be sentenced to prison.
Whatever the actions taken, people should not think negatively of their president. Indeed, Indonesia is a democratic country, but that does not mean that it is free as much as possible. If that is the case, it means that we are a liberal country, not democracy and Pancasila.
The public is asked not to be provoked because President Jokowi has stressed several times that there is no such thing as a term of office up to 3 times. He highly respects the 1998 reformation. In the spirit of reform, the term of office of the president is limited, so that there is no authoritarian attitude or tyrannical regime.
Don’t be easily swayed by hoaxes, especially those that have been spread on social media or WA groups. If there is news about the 3 term presidential term, then hold it before sharing and check the truth. Why? Because nowadays people can easily write on the internet, while the truth may not be valid, because it is only a propaganda tool.
The term of office of the Indonesian president has been fixed for only 2 terms. Can not be added and can not be contested. The public is asked to be calm and not to make fun of it when there is an issue of the 3rd term president, because Jokowi himself rejects it.
