Accelerating development on Bumi Cenderawasih is a form and manifestation of the Indonesian Government’s strong commitment to appoint teachers and educational personnel from indigenous Papuans (OAP) without requiring the same qualifications as other regions. This strategic effort received a very positive response from all civilians in Papua.

Efforts to accelerate the development of Papua, which have been continuously intensified by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), by implementing various steps and strategies, including in the education sector and carrying out regional expansion with the formation of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) for Papua, are of course all a great opportunity. both in order to further improve the welfare of all people on Earth of Cenderawasih.

Responding to this, the Representative of the Yapen Regency Student Association, Karolin Saroi assessed that all the steps and strategies taken by the government, starting from steps in improving the quality of human resources (HR) much more optimally, namely through the education sector by implementing an exception to the rule in Papua, which allows high school graduate (SMA) teachers to be appointed as State Civil Apparatus (ASN) so that efforts to appoint teachers are only specifically for indigenous Papuans (OAP), including other steps in accelerating the development of new autonomous regions is very important. was responded positively by all the people in the Easternmost Province of the country.

Of course, all elements of society in Papua really want maximum acceleration of development in their homeland. The youth and students in Bumi Cenderawasih also considered that the existence of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) has also made it easier to access public bureaucracy in Papua, so that it will be easier for all citizens to obtain public services in various forms.

It is clear that with the expansion of the region in Papua, this also intersects with many other things such as its connection with infrastructure, the educational and social sectors in that community in order to further improve its quality. Primarily, in terms of improving infrastructure development, it is assessed that the current government is also running very well, even targeting all corners and all regions in Bumi Cenderawasih.

Regarding efforts to accelerate the quality of human resources by improving the education sector as well as regional expansion through the realization of the Papua Special Region, the response from all the people in Bumi Cenderawasih was full of enthusiasm and also very positive, where it is common knowledge that geographically the region in Papua itself is very wide.

Therefore, the Indonesian Government’s current approach to accelerating development is by appointing teaching staff purely from indigenous Papuans (OAP). Apart from that, the community hopes that the existence of the Papua Special Region will also accelerate the realization of development and that improvements in bureaucratic management will be much easier to access by all communities in remote areas.

The Indonesian government itself has a very strong commitment to its efforts to accelerate development in Papua. Regarding this matter, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy stated that teacher qualifications in Papua do not need to follow standards as in other regions. The specificity of this policy is to further accelerate development on Cenderawasih Earth.

In fact, it would be better to accelerate the improvement in the quality of the education sector there, so that teachers can only be appointed from Papuan men and women, and their qualifications do not need to be the same as in other places. For students who have just graduated from high school, then they are given competency improvement training for one year, so after that they can immediately teach to elementary school (SD) students.

With this proposal, it will clearly be able to answer the challenges that Papua currently has, namely that they have the problem of a temporary shortage of teachers which they also always complain about. However, of course, these strategic steps in terms of options for equal distribution of teachers in Papua should be accompanied by coordination with the relevant ministries and technical institutions.

Meanwhile, the same is true for the nursing staff themselves, namely that nurses in Papua do not have to have qualifications like nurses in other regions, because, at least, they understand how to provide primary health services.

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has a strong commitment to appoint teaching staff as teachers in Papua, namely only native Papuans (OAP), including not requiring the same requirements and qualifications as other regions, all in order to further accelerate development in Bumi Cenderawasih and has also received a very positive response from all civilians in Tanah Papua.
