Government Committed to Strengthening MSME Capacity Amidst Digital Flow
Jakarta – Government support to advance micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) continues to be strengthened in line with the increasingly inevitable flow of digitalization.
Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Maman Abdurrahman, emphasized the importance of digitalization to boost the competitiveness of business actors in Indonesia.
Maman invites business actors to utilize digital platforms as a way to increase their turnover.
“Like it or not, we cannot stop this trend. Therefore, to those of you who have shops here, we encourage you to join the digital marketplace so that your turnover can increase,” said Maman
Maman also emphasized the important role of marketplace platforms in helping the development of MSMEs. He warned that marketplaces that do not contribute to the development of MSMEs will be sanctioned.
“Marketplaces that do not contribute and do not support the interests of MSMEs, we from the Ministry of MSMEs will close the digital platform. I am speaking in front of all the people,” he said firmly.
The government is targeting around 50 percent of Indonesian MSMEs to enter the digital ecosystem by 2025. To achieve this target, a number of strategic steps have been prepared, including strengthening cooperation with e-commerce companies, providing digital promotion training, and improving the quality of local products so they can compete in the international market.
“If our MSMEs can adapt digitally to penetrate the global market, their contribution will be significant in driving economic growth of up to 8 percent,” said Maman with full confidence.
In addition to digitalization efforts, the Ministry of MSMEs is also designing a new policy related to People’s Business Credit (KUR), with a focus on the procurement of food production equipment.
To support this step, funds of Rp 20 trillion have been allocated. This policy is expected to strengthen the MSME sector, especially those engaged in the food sector, and encourage increased production capacity.
Maman is optimistic that with collaboration between the government, business actors, and the private sector, MSMEs will become the main driving force of the Indonesian economy in the future.
With full support from various parties and rapid adaptation of technology, MSMEs can not only survive but also grow rapidly, opening up new opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
