JAKARTA – Ahead of the 2025 New Year celebrations, the government and related authorities have prepared various steps to ensure public safety and comfort.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Pratikno, explained that the Government continues to strive to ensure that Christmas and New Year celebrations run safely and smoothly.
“The government is committed to ensuring that Christmas worship and New Year celebrations are safe, smooth, orderly, and provide comfort for the entire community,” said Pratikno.
He also appreciated the solid cooperation between local governments, religious communities, and security forces in supporting the implementation of worship and celebrations.
“We ensure that traffic runs smoothly, worship is safe, and tourist locations are well maintained. Hopefully, the public can enjoy the atmosphere of Christmas and New Year with peace and solemnity,” he added.
In Jakarta, the DKI Provincial Government is holding Operation Lalu Lintas Jaya 2024 which will last for 13 days, starting from December 21, 2024 to January 2, 2025.
Acting Governor of Jakarta, Teguh Setyabudi, confirmed that security was carried out with the support of 1,500 Satpol PP personnel and 2,700 Transportation Agency personnel.
“God willing, with a very solid and compact Forkopimda, the security of Christmas 2024 and the celebration of New Year 2025 in Jakarta will run smoothly, peacefully, and without problems,” said Teguh.
In addition to security, the Jakarta Provincial Government has also coordinated with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to anticipate extreme weather.
“We also have medical personnel on standby complete with infrastructure such as ambulances for medical services if needed,” added Teguh.
Meanwhile, in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), the NTB Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Hadi Gunawan, explained that Operation Lilin Rinjani 2024 had mobilized 1,385 personnel, 20 security posts, 11 service posts, and 3 integrated service posts.
“We have prepared everything. Involve figures and the community, ensure the state is present, and strengthen vital object communication and traffic management engineering,” said Hadi.
The NTB Police Chief also emphasized the importance of synergy with the community to maintain security in places of worship, entertainment locations, tourism, and shopping centers.
“The key to an operation is synergy. Let’s involve all components of society,” he said.
With these strategic steps, the government is optimistic that Christmas and New Year celebrations will run safely, orderly, and meaningfully for the entire community. []
