Jakarta – The government of President Prabowo Subianto is committed to immediately completing the construction of important infrastructure in the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago, including buildings for legislative and judicial institutions. The construction of these buildings is one of the main priorities in creating a modern, efficient, and integrated IKN with a better Indonesian government system.

According to Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, the construction of legislative and judicial buildings is an important step to ensure that the IKN can function optimally as the new center of government of Indonesia.

“The buildings for legislative and judicial institutions in the IKN are part of an effort to create a more effective and efficient government. It is hoped that this will run according to plan and on time, considering the importance of the function of this institution in the democratic process and law enforcement in Indonesia,” said Airlangga.

Special Staff of the Head of the IKN Authority, Troy Pantouw, emphasized the importance of the sustainability of the IKN development. The government is committed to making Nusantara a new capital city that is functional and sustainable.

“This is a collaborative effort involving the government, the community, and local and international entrepreneurs. IKN will prove Indonesia’s ability to build a smart city that respects the environment and culture,” he said.

Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani stated that her party supports the development of the Indonesian IKN. She added that the completion of the construction of the legislative building in the IKN will further strengthen the role of the DPR in carrying out legislative functions in Indonesia.

“The new legislative building in the IKN will make it easier for DPR members to carry out their duties, from discussing laws to overseeing government policies. This development is very important for the development of our democratic system in the future,” said Puan Maharani.

With full support from various ministries and institutions, as well as a strong focus on the quality and resilience of infrastructure, the government is optimistic that the construction of legislative and judicial buildings in the IKN Nusantara will be completed on target. This will pave the way for the IKN as a center of government that is not only modern, but also functions well in realizing a more advanced and just Indonesia.

The development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) continues to show significant progress. Currently, the executive infrastructure is almost complete and is scheduled to be functional in early 2025. The development progress has reached 61.7 percent of the 109 packages funded by the 2020–2024 State Budget. The construction of the DPR/MPR/DPD buildings and judicial institutions such as the Supreme Court is planned to be completed in 2028, making Nusantara a capital city with three main functions: executive, legislative, and judicial.
