Prabowo – Gibran Government Committed to Empowering MSMEs to Move Up Class

JAKARTA – The government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. This step is realized through a number of strategic policies aimed at encouraging MSMEs to move up a class, expand market access, and increase competitiveness in the digital era.

Deputy Minister of SMEs, Helvi Yuni Moraza, emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto gave a special mandate to the ranks of the Ministry of SMEs to address two main problems often faced by this sector: access to capital and market access.

“President Prabowo has firmly asked us to prepare inclusive capital access for MSMEs and open up market channels as widely as possible,” said Helvi.

He explained that currently, many MSME capital structures are still not formalized, thus becoming an obstacle for business actors to develop further.

Helvi also explained that digitalization is a must for MSMEs to compete in the global market.

“Like it or not, MSMEs must enter the digital ecosystem. In the future, we will provide integrated data on markets, business partners, exhibitions, exports, and banking support for MSMEs,” Helvi added.

As part of the concrete steps, the government is preparing a special institution that will focus on providing capital for MSMEs, replacing the traditional scheme that has so far only relied on the Cooperative Revolving Fund Management Institution (LPDB).

Meanwhile, Deputy for Production and Marketing of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Victoria Simanungkalit, emphasized the importance of digitalization for MSMEs.

“MSMEs contribute up to 60% of Indonesia’s GDP, but they must continue to adapt to changes in consumer behavior, especially in the digital era,” said Victoria.

Victoria emphasized that the entry of MSMEs into the digital ecosystem will allow them to expand their market without geographical boundaries. This also helps consumers reach MSME products more easily through digital platforms.

The government continues to encourage product standardization and simplification of licensing processes to improve the quality and competitiveness of MSME products.

“We ensure that every business actor gets the assistance and certification needed to compete in local and international markets,” added Victoria.

President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran understand that MSMEs are the backbone of the Indonesian economy, contributing more than 61% to the national GDP. With targeted policies that include strengthening access to capital, digitalization, and sustainable empowerment, the government is optimistic that MSMEs will become a key pillar in realizing inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
