Jakarta – The government has shown extraordinary commitment in improving people’s quality of life through the Free Health Check (CKG) program. This initiative has proven to be a proactive and strategic step to prevent chronic diseases early on, while strengthening the foundation of primary health services throughout Indonesia.

(Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadiki said that the public is very enthusiastic about participating in this program, which reaches all levels.

“Until April 2025, almost two million residents have utilized this free service at health facilities including community health centers. This shows that the public really feels the presence of the state in guaranteeing their health,” said Budi.

He added that every day around 110,000 people participate in the CKG program, with the main findings being dental problems, high blood pressure, and blood sugar.

“We found the most complaints in the dental health area, this is due to the lack of dentists in community health centers. However, the government has responded quickly by increasing the capacity of health workers in the primary line,” he explained.

He emphasized that rapid treatment of high blood pressure and blood sugar is crucial, because “if not handled properly, it can cause stroke and heart disease within 5-6 years,” said the Minister of Health.

Deputy Minister of Health, Dante Saksono Harbuwono also said that early examination is very important in determining the effectiveness of treatment and the efficiency of the state budget.

“As of today, 1.8 million residents have registered and 1.5 million have received examination services at 9,001 health centers in 37 provinces. This is an extraordinary and very proud figure,” said Dante.

He emphasized that early detection can prevent serious complications.

“Diseases that are found early are much easier to treat. This has a direct impact on reducing the burden of medical costs in the future, and shows that the government’s program is very much on the side of the people,” he continued.

At the regional level, local governments are also actively moving. The Mayor of Yogyakarta, Hasto Wardoyo, directly led the implementation of CKG in his city.

“This program is part of our 100-day Quick Wins in the health sector. On April 15, 2025, we carried out activities simultaneously in 15 sub-districts,” said Hasto.

He revealed that 1,120 elderly people had been examined, including 50 elderly elderly who were visited directly by health workers.

“We are targeting the elderly group because 16 percent of Yogyakarta’s population is in this age group, and they have the highest life expectancy in Indonesia. So this program is very important to maintain their quality of life,” he said.

Overall, this program has had a big impact. Not only does it increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining health, but it is also part of the prevention-based health service revolution initiated by the government.

The central and regional governments continue to work together, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in getting access to health services. This approach shows that the state is fully present and on the side of the people, especially vulnerable groups.

With full support from all ministries, institutions, and regional governments, the Free Health Check program is an important key to a healthy, independent, and prosperous society, s
