Jakarta — The government has demonstrated firmness and a strong commitment to the people by deciding not to increase fuel prices amid the surge in global oil prices driven by geopolitical tensions. This policy is seen as a strategic step to maintain national economic stability while protecting people’s purchasing power.
The decision, made under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, reflects the government’s commitment to responding to global pressures without burdening the public. While many countries are facing rising energy costs, Indonesia has managed to keep fuel prices stable, both subsidized and non-subsidized, as of April 1, 2026.
Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Hamka B. Kady, expressed his appreciation for the policy. He noted that the decision was not an easy one, given the current global uncertainties.
“In a geopolitical situation that has triggered crises and rising energy prices in many countries, President Prabowo Subianto has chosen not to raise national fuel prices. This is not an easy decision. We highly appreciate it,” he said.
Hamka also emphasized that national energy stock conditions remain secure. According to him, Indonesia has identified new sources of crude oil outside the Middle East region, further strengthening national energy resilience. He also urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying that could lead to long queues at fuel stations.
Similarly, Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in the DPR RI, M. Sarmuji, assessed that maintaining fuel prices is a form of the government’s struggle to safeguard economic stability for the people.
“In the current situation, being able to keep prices from rising, especially for subsidized fuel, is already a significant achievement. The government has shown real commitment to the people by protecting purchasing power amid global pressures,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that the government has no plans to adjust fuel prices at this time. He stressed that all policies are guided by the priority of public welfare.
“That is why Pertamina has stated that there will be no price adjustments, both for subsidized and non-subsidized fuel,” Prasetyo explained.
The government also ensured that national fuel supply remains secure and under control. The public is urged not to be easily influenced by unverified information, including provocations that could trigger panic amid global uncertainty.
“We hope the public will not panic or feel anxious because we guarantee fuel availability. We assure you that there will be no price adjustments,” he affirmed.
Through this policy, the government not only maintains energy price stability but also strengthens public trust in the resilience of the national economy. Amid global challenges, synergy between the government and society remains key to maintaining stability and preventing the spread of harmful misinformation.
