CIDISS – The high price of chili in Indonesia till 200 thousand per kilogram, make people fidgety. Moreover, chili price is also impact to culinary entrepreneur. The high price invites many parties to get any solution.
Government hopes every family plant chili in order fulfill family’s need toward chili. If family able to fulfill the chili’s need, then price of chili will decrease rapidly. But, many people also think that they do not have any land to plant chili, because they are contract or rent a house. Decrease the chili’s consumption is not a solution.
Dependence to chili supply from outside region must be stopped. It will happen if we able to take a chance as entrepreneur, especially agriculture entrepreneur. Agriculture entrepreneur is a term for entrepreneur in the field of agriculture. Indonesia is agriculture country; it should have many agriculture entrepreneurs.
In some region, there a lot of un-use land, for example in Kotawaringin Timur regency, Central Kalimantan province. Member of Comission II Regional House Representative Kotawaringin Timur, Ida laila support and push people of Kotawaringin Timur to plant chili.
Ida assumes, this commodity is promising as chance. “From increasing the price of chili, we can learn and push the farmer to plant the chili,” said Ida such quote in Kalteng Prokal.
The land structure in her region is suitable for chili growth. Not only land, but turf is also good for plant the chili. But, many people have not take yet economic chance in chili plant.
“Many people only focus on a commodity, such palm oil, rattan or rubber. People don’t want to take new chance to plant chili or onion,” said her.
Government hope has formulation to plant chili through farmer group program. The group is made and guided to plant a commodity, such chili.
Previously, data from Kotawaringin Timur government, the amount of people in this region is 405.700 people. It means the need to chili is about 7 ton every month
