CIDISS – One of the cultural products is art. Various kinds of art are created by various tribes in Indonesia. So, Indonesia has a variety of traditional arts. One of them is Japen art. The traditional art is from sukamara.
Japen art combines the art of music and dance. The existence of this art should be preserved especially among young people.
As it is known, there are many traditional arts left by the young generation, even the young generation to switch to modern art and more love the culture from others countries. However, Japen art that early played by adults and old people, today it has generated, and changed playing by the teenagers.
The enthusiasm of adolescents in Japen art has positive response from Sukamara Vice Regent, Windu Subagio. “In the past we can see that the instrument player is old people. Now there is a young who play the instrument even though that’s not completely, “said Windu Subagio.
Windu said, traditional art in Sukamara needed, besides it has positive impact for teens, it can also increase the love of art in order not to extinct.
Chairman of the Regional Arts Council (DKD) Sukamara District, Chairuddin said Japen art is now beginning to be popular among young people in Sukamara. “Alhamdulillah, today, many young people who joined in art studio to learn Japen art,” added Chairuddin.
According to Chairuddin, with the many young people who joined the art gallery, it shows that young generation has started to like art that should be preserved.
He hopes, there are more parties who conserve and develop the traditional dance. “We hope that in the future there will be more teenagers who are interested to learn and join Japen arts, considering that the activities will provide many benefits and bring positive things for them to fill their spare time,” he said.
