Damaging the Morals of the Young Generation, the Government Invites the Public to Fight Online Gambling
JAKARTA – Online gambling is now a serious threat to the morals and future of the young generation in Indonesia. The government invites all elements of society to work together to combat this danger in order to create a better environment for the nation’s next generation.
Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, emphasized that the anti-online gambling campaign is one of the main priorities in the digital era.
“Online gambling is not only financially detrimental, but also threatens the future of the younger generation,” said Dito.
According to him, the government will continue to increase various efforts to educate the public about the dangers of online gambling, especially for young people.
In line with that, the Minister of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid stated that cross-sector collaboration is very necessary to eradicate online gambling.
He said the government would expand the reach of the campaign to provide digital awareness to the younger generation.
“Komdigi and Kemenpora will expand the anti-online gambling campaign to create a young generation that is digitally aware, free from online gambling and achieves. Collaboration will be carried out with various parties, including other ministries or institutions, communities, and inspiring figures,” said Meutya.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Student Action Union (KAMMI), Iskandar Zulkarnain, highlighted the social impact of the rampant online gambling which has become a habit in society, especially among students.
“Yes, of course, we as young people are actually worried about the increasing prevalence of online gambling like that. Well, this is what I’m afraid of, it’s actually starting to become a habit, a habit among young people, even among school children like that,” said Iskandar.
He added that the issue of online gambling is a very disturbing problem and must be fought together. According to him, the steps taken by the government and the Police in eradicating online gambling are the right steps and should be supported by all parties.
“These are positive things that we must support, we must support and of course as young people we must also play a role,” he stressed.
With synergy between the government, society, and young figures, it is hoped that the next generation of the nation can be free from the negative impacts of online gambling and be able to create proud achievements.
