JAKARTA — The National Police Criminal Investigation Unit has successfully uncovered 80 drug cases from September to October 2024, confiscating more than 1.07 tons of crystal methamphetamine.

This reflects the effectiveness of drug eradication during the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

A total of 136 perpetrators were arrested in this operation, including three international drug networks.

Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police, said that the achievement reflects the implementation of President Prabowo’s Asta Cita vision, which focuses on strengthening the prevention and eradication of corruption, drugs, and smuggling.

“Following up on the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Chief of Police, Bareskrim together with the Regional Police and related agencies have succeeded in uncovering 80 cases, including international drug networks,” he said.

This action is also in accordance with the direction of the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to strengthen law enforcement efforts against drugs.

In addition to the Fredy Pratama (FP) drug network which operates in 14 provinces, Bareskrim also uncovered two other large networks, namely the HS network in five provinces and the H network in Jambi which was controlled by three brothers.

From the entire operation, the evidence that was successfully confiscated included 1.07 tons of crystal methamphetamine, 1.12 tons of marijuana, and hundreds of thousands of ecstasy pills.

Wahyu explained that if these drugs were to circulate, the potential number of victims could reach more than 6 million people.

In the first session of the Red and White Cabinet, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of focusing on eradicating drugs, online gambling, corruption and other crimes as serious threats to society.

The eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia instructed the Attorney General’s Office, the Police, and the BPKP to strengthen the legal approach and intelligence support so that crime mitigation can be carried out effectively.

This directive is in line with the government’s vision to create a society free from harmful crimes.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo added that eradicating drugs is part of the Asta Cita mission carried out by President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran.

The Chief of Police has instructed mapping of drug entry routes and taking firm action against smuggling attempts, including through reward and punishment policies for police officers who demonstrate achievements in uncovering major cases.

With cross-agency synergy, the Prabowo-Gibran government has demonstrated a strong commitment to eradicating drugs and various other forms of crime, realizing a safer Indonesia free from the threat of narcotics. []
